Dumb HBO Question

104 30 June 12, 2020 at 03:49 PM
I've searched other forums but can't find a straight answer, so I thought someone here may have a clear answer.

I subscribe to an AT&T cable TV package along with an AT&T 1,000 mbps internet subscription at my home. I also pay an $8 a month add-on to my cable package for the HBO channels.

As you are likely aware, AT&T is giving those who have an AT&T 1000 mbps internet plan a free HBO Max subscription for as long as the 1000 mbps internet plan is active. I have activated my free HBO Max subscription and can access it via Apple TV or my Samsung Smart TV app.

I can't think of any, but is there any reason why I should keep the $8 per month HBO add-on to my cable TV plan? To my knowledge subscribing to HBO on cable is not a requirement for the free HBO Max subscription.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

The cable HBO sub doesn't use up any of your data. It depends on what your data cap is and how much you watch HBO whether you would use up all your data, or get charged for overages.

HBO Max data usage does not count toward the data cap I thought.

I dunno the details of the OPs plan. If you're right, seems like time to dump the cable HBO.

Thanks Professor and iamiamian, I have no data cap on the internet plan so it sounds like there is no reason to keep the cable HBO subscription.

If you have AT&T Wireless you get HBO for free as well depending on the plan you are on.

HBO Max is pretty confusing, the app on my Shield has a lot going on, but I do like the TCM, and Looney Tunes things. I swear they remastered all those classic cartoons. They look fantastic on my 4K Sammy.Just wish there was a way they would auto play.
