I can't recommend Kamado grills enough. You can do EVERYTHING on them. Low and slow brisket...no prob. Seared steak at 600 deg...no prob. 3 minute pizza at 800 deg...no prob. Plus it's so efficient your charcoal lasts forever.

I live in the Maryland area and 2 Walmart's I have been to have them for $355 and $335 respectively based on 1 of them being a floor model and have a bent handle.

I haven't had mine long enough to know about the cold. It is double walled, so it should do okay after it warms up. There is going to be some ambient temperature where the controller has large steady state error, like the rain, but that may be pretty cold.

I don't have one yet, but most reports indicate that wind is a bigger issue than rain in terms of inaccurate temperatures. Basically wind gets in the big back vent on the 560 and cools part o the cooking chamber (especially the middle/top rack), but the temp probe is closer to the grates where the wind has less effect.

I do believe it is a PID controller though.

Walmart kept the pallet attached to his box for support, so that may have contribute to the space.

The only issue for me is the longevity of a Masterbuilt product. Thin gauge metal, cheap paint, rusting. As for the controllers, those can be remedied via firmware updates.

Weber should've made something like this instead of their Smokefire pellet smoker which catches on fire and has problems of its own.

masterbuilt recommends you only use a certain amount of wood CHUNKS, not chips, in the hopper with charcoal. But people have reported they use wood chunks only (no charcoal), but there is more creosote build up.

Walmarts in my area and even extended areas from me all are 10% off ~447 bucks. Not a bad deal but anyone know if other walmarts will begin to put these on clearance as the summer progresses? Someone posted all walmarts are independent marketplaces but curious when/how store managers decide to move an item to clear it out. How likely would they be willing to negotiate if I approached a store manager?
