    Bought this before and the transfer speed was painfully slow. Eventhough it was quite a bit more expensive, I got the Samsung Duo Plus USB 3.1 Flash Drive (MUF-128DB/AM) and it was much faster.

    Cheapo drives like this are probably only excellent for smaller files. For large files or large number of files, the drives are painfully slow as it "takes a break" every once in a while (transfer speed of zero).

    It's still faster than USB 2.0 but there are better USB 3 drive out there. I personally like the metal body Samsung ones. Check on reviews before you buy any flash drive if this is a concern for you.

    I had this exact drive and the locking mechanism started failing after a few months. Made it very frustrating to use.
    Finally replaced it with one of the flip ones last week.

    speeds for larger files are slow. and the drive runs hot on my MacBook. still a very good purchase at this price point.

    One should be aware that the fact that this is USB 3.1 and has USB-C does not improve the speed of the drive over those with "USB 3.0". The USB speed is not at all the bottleneck here (not to mention the fact that they probably mean USB 3.1 Gen 1, which is USB 3.0).

    no, it doesn't work quite like that. think of usb-c as just a different shape. some of them are faster than others, but you would need to look at reviews for a better idea.
