A lot of people won't consider this a deal but I personally think this is one of the best 4x4 5G AC routers you can buy right now.

Think of it as a slightly better AC86U with link aggregation capable via firmware and 160mhz capable radios (do not recommend unless you want lower range due to half the radio getting disabled).

I get over 500mbps (consistently) over 30 feet of range on this router personally with 80mhz bonding. 4x4 AX like performance on 2x2 clients, but YMMW due to home construction and channel usage. These can be used in a wired backhaul for double the coverage range and speed across a large 4-5k SQFT home.

Does not support rMerlin firmware.

Price has been fluctuating between 199.99 and 179.99 every week since April to clear inventory for the newer AX86U that should be out this month. This is the lowest price its been without a code.

169.99 FS. > Now $179.99 Now 199.99

Deal dead on Newegg. Likely had a mass influx of orders.

Amazon still has it for 169.99.

Edit again. Back on sale for 169.99 with promo code on newegg

Someone educate me because I can't find the answer...

Is it better to do wired Access Points or a Mesh setup like this utilizing wired backhaul?

Wired undoubtedly but most can't run the wires.

Seems pretty solid. It mainly doesn't have more support because of the lack of Merlin, probably. I actually just got a Like New 86U for $140. Maybe a router like this one might have been a better choice. Humm.

Mesh will let you seamlessly transition among nodes. Wired mesh is best.

Are there any deals or recommendations for modems recently upgraded to 500MBps and plan to buy a modem to avoid the monthly rental

68U is definitively better than the 66U, and 86U is definitively better than 68U. You should probably upgrade to a newer Asus Router, but it depends on your set-up.

I know very little about this area. Currently have a Netgear Nighthawk. I think it's starting to fail. TVs are dropping connection at random. My new home is 6Ksqft. the entire house is wired..even the garage. Anyone want to do a paid virtul consult or point me to some resources to learn how to take advantage of my current setup?

Worth upgrading from night hawk r6700? Currently using the router for hardwired PS4 and about 15-20 devices. Have cox gigablast. Seeing about 350-400 DL and 35UL when I'm right next to the router.

Using in a 1750 sqft house 2 story house. How's the range on this router?

[QUOTE=Jsz0301;138726482]A lot of people won't consider this a deal but I personally think this is one of the best 4x4 5G AC routers you can buy right now.

I bought this router 2 months ago and absolutely love it. Not going to lie I am a bit over my head with getting the settings right. Thoughts on these 2 settings pages? would you change anything up? coverage is OK, but I honestly only have like 2 2.4ghz devices (old 3ds's) that I don't use often. About 30 feet from the router I have a google home mini that is constantly disconnecting. Rebooting it will fix it, but when it switches channels (I guess randomly?) I can get the disconnect again. Thanks for any insight and help to getting this thing to own. Also any other tweaks would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time! Big Grin

PS. RGB may sound dumb, but setting it up in Alert mode is awesome seeing your bandwidth usage as you walk by the room.

If I want to setup a mesh network with this, what would be a good affordable 2nd mesh device?
