Yeah depends on what priorities ppl have ...my priorities are coverage , stability and speed and I can live without anything else , so far in my budget which goes till $250, nothing came close to nighthawk 7800, but I consistently read 88u is slightly better ..not by much tho, so If I get a good deal , I don't mind trying it out , Asus is known for solid performance

I agree. I also value stability. I have a R7000 and the latest firmware on it drops the WiFi frequently. Considering upgrade to r7800 or 88u.

I have this router and I get horrible speeds on my iPad. I pay for 400 mbps and on my iPad while connected to 5g I get less than 20. I'm about to send this back and go with something like google wifi. I don't need all the points so one should do it.

I got this to replace an r8000 that was having stability issues, I believe due to heat issues. It's running cool and stable and haven't experienced the connectivity issues others have described. It's been running about a week so far, so it's still early to tell, but I'm hopeful it will work out

You need to make sure your modem will support gigablast

Is this router a solid upgrade over a Linksys EA8300?
i bought the nighthawk yesterday. the difference was like 20 to 30% speed.
tested with wifi6 equipped pc and the connection was great. before i was getting like 780mpbs and with the netgear it was more than 1gb so streaming and gaming was very good. but with that using dfs channel, the 5ghz signal was not that great on laptop about 2 rooms away. copying over network is a bit faster. the only thing i didn't like was the app most of the time keeps searching for the router even connected and the software is a bit buggy. and it really takes its time to boot up before any wifi signal shows up so i returned it. if you have a lot of wifi6 devices then get it.

Upgraded to this router from an AC1700. Been using it for about 1 month. Will have to return/rebuy at costco for my $40 credit. Using it with gigabit service. About a 40% speed boost on usenet files and about a 30% range boost around the house and yard. Our phones that support wifi 6 saw an even bigger speed boost. Easy to setup, runs very cold, happy customer so far. Don't like spending this much on a router (always bought second hand for around $10 at goodwills) but this has seemed like a good value splurge so far given the amount of devices and downloading we now do.

Went from an R7000 to R7800 a few years ago. Can't find a reason to change. I get my plan speeds (200/10) all over my house (2500 sq ft).

Yep 7800 has to be one of the best AC routers , specially when you get it cheap used now
