It's 4 years since receiving the sign up bonus.
You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.

For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

If you don't get instant approval for this card, you can avoid the 7 to 9 business day for a decision on a pending application by calling the Chase reconsideration number and getting an instant decision. Remember to call the Chase reconsideration number (which goes to their lending division that ascertains credit risk) rather than the general Chase customer service number (see the link below). they are open 7 days a week but not for 24 hours (see the timings in the link)

what is the minimum amount of credit given on the CSP? I assume with a minimum spend of $4K for the 80K bonus and Chase Signature requirement of at least 5K, it is most likely going to be 5K, Anyone got under that?

Very good card if you are a frequent traveller. I got this last year and was able to make good use of the signup bonus.
Please keep in mind that you have to purchase things very smartly in order to maximize the benefits of this card, something that not all people want to do.
This card is crap for any type of purchases. The Reserve does everything it does, but better. Once you hit the 4k minimum spend, go ahead and convert it to something more useful, like the Freedom.

FYI - if you recently product changed your Sapphire Preferred or Reserve to another card, you have to wait until the statement closes on the new card before applying.

Case in point: I product changed from Reserve to Freedom Flex earlier this week. I then applied for preferred card today to take advantage of the 80K bonus and was denied instantly. When I called to ask why, they said that the system still shows I have a Reserve card and that it would not update until the next statement closes. You are only allowed to have one Sapphire product at a time and technically, my account still shows that I have a Reserve until the next statement closes.

My Credit score is 780 but still I am not getting approved for this card. I have only 2 chase cards and checking account more than 3 years

Anything I should do to get it approved? I mean to close current one
1) Is the checking account from chase? If so, it definitely helps in their overall assessment; if not it is of no use.

2) there is zero reason for you not to be approved. Did you call the reconsideration line?

Look at your old statement. It's the statement closing date on the statement in which the bonus was posted.

How does one know whether for the CSR $300 annual travel credit, it is based on a calendar year or continuous annual loop starting from when you applied for the card? (e.g., let's say someone applied for the card in Oct 2016 to take advantage of the 100K bonus at that time)

It's loop year. I have done 4 years. My 300 credit year ends in December 9th. So I know it for a fact

yes, Ends Nov 8.

But no worries, I see huge cancellations on the CSR starting from Jan 2019 when the annual fee for renewals will go up from $450 to $550 (right now there is a $100 fee credit for COVID for renewals in 2020)..

Both CSR and CSP and going to find a hard time securing renewals with a less than generous benefit relatively compared to the Freedom Unlimited/Flex. Maybe it is intention? We know for sure that CSR has been a money loser for Chase which is why even the bonus is less than that of the CSP for such a long time. I think the 50% bonus redemption on points with the CSR is what's hurting Chase the most.

are you renewing? also you may be able to double dip on th3 $300 as apparently you can get the annual fee refunded if you cancel with 30 days (from statement date?, from when the fee hits your account?)

why did you hold the card continuously for 4 years? Betting it is the lounge benefit and the $300 credit which minimizes the impact of the annual fee.

What do you mean by renewing? I have this card since Dec 2016. I am keeping it. The benefit of this card is awesome. With $300 travel credit( now can be used as grocery credit too), Lyft premium, Door Dash premium with $60 credit a year, it almost pays for itself. And I have 400k points in my account which I can use for 2 business class tickets to Europe( may be in 2021, fingers crossed)
And I like the metal card...feels premium...jk
