It's 4 years since receiving the sign up bonus.
You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.

For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

If your statement date was before October 27th, you are clear to apply now, assuming you do not currently hold any type of Sapphire card.

So if I still have the CSR, I can't get CSP?

Your previously awarded points have to be before 11/7/2016
Interesting. Where did you learn this? I've been reviewing the fine print and talking with Chase reps. As far as I understand, if you received the CSR 100k bonus on the 11/15/16, you should be eligible to receive this new CSP 80k bonus deal as long as the points are not posted prior to 11/15/20 (to comply with 48 month bonus rule)

So can't he apply for the card now? (so long as he no longer has the CSR) And finish his 4k spending in Dec or Jan?

My statement close date is 18th Nov, so it would be 4 yrs on 18th Nov that i would have received the bonus. So If i apply on the 7th Nov the last date for this offer, is there any chance of approval?
I am in the same boat. My 4 years will be on Nov 15 this year. I've been talking to Chase reps. They tell me the 48 month rule applies to when you receive your bonus, not when you open your card. So I believe you are allowed to get your new sapphire card prior to 48 months, you just have to spend the 4k and be eligible for the the bonus after 48 months to receive it. Did you learn anything different to this?

Correct. If you want the CSP, you need to downgrade the CSR to one of the Freedom-series cards (b/c of Chase's timeframe in fully processing cancellations, it is too late for you to outright cancel the CSR and be eligible for this CSP offer).

Your understanding of the fine print is incorrect. You have to be bonus-eligible before being approved for the card. What might be possible is to apply and get initially rejected at some point before 11/8, and then call Chase to have the application reconsidered after 11/15, but before 30 days have elapsed since the application was submitted.

If I earned the CSR 100K on November 15, 2016, will I earn the CSP 80K Bonus if my new CSP statement closes in December 2020?
OR, No because November 15 falls after the 11/7/2020 CSP application deadline?
Hey! Did you get an answer on this? I am in the exact same boat. I also earned the 100k points on 11/15/16 LMAO I had cancelled my CSR back in September and want to get in on this deal!

The Chase reps you spoke to are wrong. There is a vast amount of understanding re. how Chase (and other cards') bonuses work out there. From many peoples' trial and error, experiences, etc, the reality is that bonus eligibility is based on the date of approval for the new card, not when the bonus for the new card might hit.

I was declined for the card. I have an 835 credit score, but their decision was based on:

The outstanding debt on your credit accounts is too high
- I payoff my monthly balances on all my cards - currently I have $2,100 charged on $50k available - 7 cards - Discover IT (2015), Amex Blue Cash (2016), BofA NCL MC (2019), Home Depot (2018), eBay (2019), a Chase Freedom (2014) and Chase AARP (2016).

Too many requests for new credit in the past 2 years
- Been trying to refi for the last 6 months so I have 4 hard inquiries from mortgage companies, just finished the refi and it funded 10/26

I did the refi to add a 12x16 shed in the backyard. I wanted this card to save $800 on the $4,500 shed. Now I'm declined. Really sucks. Would talking to a human and explaining the above in any way help change their mind?

Possibly. It certainly won't hurt.

same, this sucks. The credit system is broken, even if you have 0 balance across cards they are worried. Not sure why this dumb system exists

I got this card last month. Apart from using it for other purchases, I used it for a XBOX as well. What will happen if I return my XBOX before reaching 4K mark or even after reaching 4K and getting 80K points? Will there be any issues after my return is processed. Could chase take back my 80K back after the return??

That really sucks... I even did it through the Chase portal online so that there is written record of the communication. But I've also read that Chase worked into their fine print that they can do whatever they feel like it when it comes to bonus points and they can basically deny anyone at will. I think I'll just hold out and apply after Nov 15th. Maybe they'll extend the 80k deal till then just for me yummy

It's always a good idea to re-spend.
