Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

Just a question to those with type 3 code. Were you able to register code at t-mobile insider website? I just want to double check whether it's really my grandfathered account that is preventing me from registering the code. This is the message I get when I try to register the code that I found.

"Unfortunately you are not eligible for this offer. Please contact T-Mobile Customer Care by dialing 611 from your handset to complete the qualifying offer requirements."

Contract sent does not state anything about the $500 trade in but I'm guessing that's normal? Any idea? Rep stated that $500 would come off in equal increments over 24 months
You will get SMS/Email about credits once phone gets shipper.. As per CS

Good to know as my Rep said I choose either a debit card or credit apply to the monthly bill when I call in to active the new phone. I figure I just pull out my existing SIM card and put it into the new phone and the new phone should work but the Rep said I have to call when I get my new phone.

Update: I just saw this in 1 of the 4 plus emails with this upgrade and really confusing now. Anyone else seeing this in their email?

How Your Trade-in/ Turn-in Works
Once your new Galaxy S20 FE 5G - Cloud Navy - 128GB ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Samsung SM-G935T Galaxy S7 Edge 32GB Silver - T-Mobile in good condition to receive a one‑time bill credit of $32.00.

Update 2: I think I found the answer to my question. I've been with T-Mobile for a long time but this is my first trade-in. Per promo: 3) Receive a one-time bill credit based on your trade-in value, and the balance of the offer via 24 monthly bill credits.

The $32 one time bill credit is for my S7 Edge and the $500 credit is for the trade-in promotion therefore the $500 credit is spread over 24 billing cycles which should net $8.33 monthly payment for the phone.

So, after much discussion and confusion here, what are the actual terms for this deal:

a) new line required only; device trade not required

b) device trade required only; new line not required

c) both new line and device trade required

d) none of the above

Sometimes I seriously miss contracts. Especially since EIP is just fake contracts
If you're adding a line. . .it's almost better to jump on the $599 (with PM) straight from Samsung. Some other discounts like EDU and Referral and cash back. . .as well as then being able to claim $250 BYOD rebate (and avoid "contracts")

But then again if adding a line, you can do the free phone deal and still get the $200 hookup, without having to trade. I normally hate being tied down, but beginning to settle down with TMO. . . just joined in June and have 5 Magenta for $120. . .and would only consider leaving if wife started TMO account to get the 20% hookup (and the free line that expired last night).

So, what is the best way to do the trade-in? By phone, by APP, by Facebook or go to TMO Store?
