Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

How good in condition does the phone need to be for trade. My s8 has a couple deep scratches. No cracks. Everything working fine

That's not my question but thanks anyway.
Ok, but you did ask the best way to trade in a phone. So, I told you that you don't have to, because it's free to add a line.lol

I think it depends on whether you need a new line or if you have a qualifying phone to trade in. I can add new line for 12.xx a month (this includes taxes/fees), so for 24 months I would pay a little over $300. Yes, its a $100 more than the current offer. But then I don't need to trade a phone in or buy one to trade in. $300 seems like a reasonable price for a brand new phone. The only thing is I really don't need a new line.
Everyone is in a different boat.
For someone who needs a phone right now - that might be a good deal. Especially if the new line you are adding will be used by someone.

I for one don't need a new phone right now since we got S10 earlier this year and don't plan to upgrade them any time soon (actually have an extra brand new S10 sitting around).
And I have an extra line I recently got for free which I won't need for another several years at least.

And I have an old S7 that I don't need at all and would be happy to trade it in for $500.
But even then, paying $200 (plus taxes on $700 ??) doesn't make much sense to me since I won't need that phone at all.
But if I could use $200 hookup code to make it free (or just taxes??) - would be a no brainer.

Still trying to figure out if the hookup code could be used since it expires in 5 days and the S20 FE will be shipped after that.

I think the orginal promotion is up and running. Trade in and get $500 off. No new line is needed. I may upgrade all my lines. I have 5 sprint iphone 7 from my the costco deal.

I think we're out. One representative I talked to on the phone yesterday said that but I just wanted to confirm. Sometimes the representatives don't know about the old grandfathered plans. Oh well. I also looked at the trade in $500 offer as well and it says Simple Choice Plan is excluded. I don't think know if they're talking about the old grandfathered one or the the new one they brought back briefly this year.
Where? It clearly says all plans eligible except the value plan

So, I'm kind of stuck with my plan where there are so many free lines and hookups, etc., on it that I've got 9 for $135/month. Anytime I try to do anything on the account itself... like, just clicking a checkmark to add kickback to one of the lines... the monthly bill jumps several hundred dollars. Because of this, I've not been taking advantage of any of the new "free" add a line deals, but I'm wondering if this $200 hookup deal is removed from the account enough that it should not mess it up?

I know that buying the phone is not SUPPOSED to mess up the plan, either, but I'm always scared it will (especially if I do it in store), but for nearly free to jump to an S20 by using an S7 that is probably worth $50 seems like a pretty good deal. I just don't want to nuke my plan.

I only see "Value Essential" excluded. Where do you see the excluded plans?

OP, maybe update that this applies to a whole set of phones, not just the S20 FE. You can get the same deal for a Note 20, S20, etc.

Someone found the fix by putting in the dashes between the credit card numbers. The dash after every 4 digits.
