I bought into this deal last time at $1,200. YMMV, but my unit had bad backlight bleed and a few dead pixels. The good news is that Walmart's return policy is great, so you don't have much to lose. I returned my purchase, but other than the panel, it was really a fantastic laptop. Powerful, fantastic keyboard, solid build quality, etc.

Did you get a replacement or just returned it?

Just returned it. Ended up getting an MSI with a 2060 through work, so there wasn't a need to try a replacement. That being said, if I was in the market, I'd definitely give the Legion another shot. Lenovo's build quality and keyboard are significantly better than anything else in this price range.

This deal seems on par with the best deals this year for these specs.
Great screen, and RTX 2060, good RAM, and hdd.
--other comparable deals was
Bestbuy's HP OMEN for $1150 with similar CPU, GPU, and RAM. and great screen.

Walmart's Asus with Ryzen7 and same gpu for $1150, https://slickdeals.net/f/14369978-asus-zephyrus-g502iv-15-6-fhd-240-hz-ips-ryzen-7-4800hs-16gb-ddr4-...

or Acer Predator $1200 >> https://slickdeals.net/f/14256455-acer-predator-helios-300-gaming-laptop-intel-i7-10750h-nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060-6gb-15-6-full-hd-144hz-3ms-ips-display-16gb-dual-channel-ddr4-1199-and-tax-free-for-some-states
Helios 300 is a league below than this and none of the other devices have a 500 Nits Screen. The Asus G15 version you linked, was posted by me, is having 144 Hz version with 300 its brightness and good color gamut. Normally all the RTX 2060 versions released in North America are having the 240 Hz Screen. That model is a Walmart specific model with 144 Hz screen but good color gamut.

I bought this (1149) with Walmart worker 10% discount and also discover calender cash back at 5%. Is this thus a good deal or is it going to be hundreds cheaper in a few months anyways?

Also I don't understand: does this not have "Thunderbolt"? What kind of thing do I use to have both my monitor and keyboard connect to it through one port?

Thunderbolt is normally saved for higher tier version which is Legion 7i for Lenovo. And you cannot connect your display and Keyboard via a single port even if you have a Thunderbolt 3 port. Not sure why you did not understand that. You need to have some kind of Type-C hub or dock which has a display out for your monitor and USB ports for your keyboard.
But I am not sure why you need that. You can connect your monitor via the HDMI port or the Type-C port using a Type-C to HDMI or DP cable, depending upon your Monitor's input and Keyboard via the USB port and this has 4 of them.

Thanks for posting. Ordered one yesterday with free overnight shipping (was going to get the Helios 300, but switched to this instead). Confirmed it's a 81Y600DCUS with 240Hz and 500nits.

Looking for this but how can we order the lit keyboard model? It was mentioned in Walmart that there was an option to add.

This one has white backlighting.

The RGB keyboard is a $30 option at https://lenovo.com. Not sure if any of Walmart's other configurations of the Legion 5 come with it.

Have had it for a couple days. Impressions for anyone interested:
  • It runs Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 at good frame rates with graphics on high and TAA enabled.
  • Screen is bright, vibrant, and accurate. No backlight bleed.
  • Keyboard is excellent. Not quite on par with the Pixelbook and MacBook, but better than other mid-tier laptops I've used. Likewise for the trackpad.
  • Chassis feels solid for not being a unibody. Design is subtle and understated. Looks more professional than typical gaming laptops.
Had initially ordered the Alienware M15 R1, but it got delayed. Then settled on the Acer Helios 300 before finding this deal. Also considered the 17" Nitro 5, Triton 300, and Asus TUF A15. All have pros and cons, but the Legion 5's screen at this price point is slick.

Glad I wasn't the only one all over the board looking at options...

I finally settled on this one as well. Waiting on them to arrive. Bought myself and the daughter both something for traveling.

Really thought hard about the Powerspec too for its upgradability but frankly at this price point it's good for two years and I won't feel bad about trading up for something new in the slightest.

Hmmm... I can't seem to add the $88 "3-Year Accident Protection Plan" (to the Legion 5 I ordered last week). I normally don't pay for those, but it seems like a good deal for a $1150 laptop.

I didn't get it initially since it's supposed to be possible to add it up to 30 days later. And as expected, walmart.com shows this text next to the order in my purchase history:
Quote :
Your order has purchases eligible for a Protection Plan. Add a plan within 22 days! View eligible plans
However, clicking "View eligible plans" brings up a new page with:
Quote :
Sorry, it looks like you don't have any eligible products.
Called Walmart and SquareTrade.

SquareTrade can sell me the protection plan directly, but they'd charge much more.

Walmart can't figure out how to add it, and told me to purchase another Legion 5 (with the warranty) and return the first laptop. Seems stupid and wasteful since Walmart would be taking back a used computer (for no reason other than this).

Very happy with the computer itself.
