Originally I saw this deal on Best Buy and I was able to price match it on Amazon by reporting a lower price. I didn't see this posted on here yet. Seems to be the lowest price based on CCC.

Best Buy: $299.99
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6347286

Amazon: $299.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZX...UTF8&psc=1

Notes:

Update #1:
The price dropped to $289.74 on Amazon as of 10/15/2020.
Update #2:
The price increased back to $299.99 on Amazon as of 10/19/2020.
Notes:
Extra Credit: Save $10.25 at checkout. (Not sure if it applies to everyone)
$299.99 - $10.25 = $289.74

Update #3:
Discount of $10.25 no longer available. Price remains at $299.99 as of 10/21/2020.
Update #4:
Price dropped to $249.99 as of 11/22/2020.

No. Unless you use it with an external thunderbolt enclosure. Internal SSD are proprietary and locked to the T2 chip.

Not saying its a bad deal but it does make me wonder if it will dive further now that PCIE4.0 / 980 Pro is out.

EDIT:

FYI, you can get an additional $50 off when you activate with Discover Cashback Bonus on Amazon with a minimum purchase of $150. Discover needs to be your method of payment and you need to click the box to use the cashback bonus.

As someone who is only looking for 250-500gb max for a work computer with no strenuous programs being run, would an evo plus be overkill and a WD Blue would suffice, or is this worth the extra bit for reliability's sake?

When you pick your payment method, you pick your discover card. If you have cashback bonus, it will show below it. You need to click the box to use it and put amount to use. It should deduct $50 dollars so it will be $249.99 and then deduct the cashback bonus you selected.

This is an extreme overkill. A WD blue would be just fine for your purposes, the reliability of the evos is if you're running this drive hard doing video editing, etc.

I found some details on the $50 off promotion. The drive is sold by the Samsung Store and I don't think it qualifies. I tried it myself and also no luck. Made sure to add some of my cashback bonus as well. Note: I do not have prime but I didn't see that as a qualification. I do have my Discover linked.

1. Browse for qualifying items. "Qualifying items" are select items sold by Amazon.com in Apparel, Electronics, Software, Video Games, and Computers displaying the offer message on their product information pages. Due to manufacturer restrictions, some products are not eligible.
