Hey everyone, I bought this over a month ago with the colder weather coming, and I just hit my 100th ride this week so I've become pretty used to the system. I've posted this in similar threads to this and people have found it helpful, so here's my how-to Peloton guide that tells you what you need.

Required items you'll need:

Echelon bike [walmart.com]
Peloton app [onepeloton.com]
Peloton subscription (Note, if you have a friend who has a bike subscription you can ask if they'll create an account for you instead to save some money)
Two streaming devices
One to connect to the Echelon app [echelonfit.com] to display your statistics, usually a phone
One to connect to the Peloton app to display the classes, usually a tablet

Optional add-ons to improve the experience

Wahoo cadence sensor [amazon.com] - iOS support only - this attaches to your bike's gearshaft and can be connected to the Peloton app to integrate your cadence. You'll already be getting cadence information from the Echelon app on your phone, but if you want it to display in the Peloton app, you'll need this too.

Polar OH1+ heart rate sensor [amazon.com] - this wraps around your arm and can provide heart rate data to the Peloton app. Instructors will mention heart rate zones to target in advanced classes, so if you want to be able to follow along you'll need this, but it's not required. You will also get more accurate calorie burn counts with your heart rate being measured.

Note: If you are an iOS user and have an Apple Watch, you have a couple options instead of buying a sensor.

Use Peloton app on your iPhone. If you use your iPhone for displaying the class, it will have direct access to your heart rate from your Apple Watch.

Download HeartCast [apple.com] which allows your Apple Watch to broadcast heart rate over bluetooth. You can pair this with your iPad/Android tablet.

Bicycle mat [amazon.com] - The official Echelon mat is 27"x47", so this should fit underneath it to catch your sweat and protect your carpet/hardwood floor.
1-3lb dumbbells [amazon.com] - In some classes, the instructor will tell you to do some lifts, so you'll need a set of light weights
Peloton to Echelon resistance chart [etsy.com] - The instructor will call out numbers to change your bicycle resistance during the class, but the Echelon uses a different scale so you can print this out or buy one to have as a handy reference.
Gel bicycle seat cover [amazon.com] - If you are gonna be spinning for a long time, the gel will help ease any pain you have in your backside

To get the baseline experience done, you'll need to setup your Echelon bike as described in the manual. After physical setup is complete, download the Echelon app to your phone, and then plug in your bike and start the pairing process.

Next, if you bought either of the optional sensors you'll need to pair them with your ipad/android tablet.

Once paired, to get your Echelon app into freestyle mode to display your statistics, go to the bottom right of the app, select "More", then "Freestyle Ride".

Finally, you will then be able to load the Peloton app on your tablet, select a class, and start going.

Thanks, picked one up.

Don't forget Chase Freedom has Walmart as one of the 5% categories this quarter!

You have to pay for the Peloton app correct? My wife wants me to buy her one of these Peloton type bikes and I'm trying to understand the pros and cons. The one review said the only bike that was "open source" allowing you to use any app was the Bowflex but this is half the price.

Personally I figure I will be watching the bike sit in the corner for six months then I will sell it on Craigslist but maybe I'm wrong.

I ordered this on Oct 13th and it just arrived (Oct 15th). I'm in Socal which helps since the order originated about 40 miles from me.

I got the Sunny a few days ago and its pretty solid. The fly wheel is heavy even on a zero resistance. Feels like its the best bike without any electrical components.
I got the sunny for the wife also, haven't put it together yet but relieved to hear you say that and feel I made the right call on that one instead of this echelon the last time it popped up here.

Does anyone know where to find an add-on weight rack that hangs under/behind the seat? My wife would want that to mimic her soulcycle classes, but I can't seem to find any universal ones, only a couple brand/model specific ones on Etsy.

You could stand next to the bike and pass her water, a towel and the weights as needed, in addition to blowing her cold air with a hand fan Smilie

I just feel like a modular set-up is better for this type of thing. What happens if the screen or electrical components break?

This bike is maintainence free.

I got a Wahoo sensor today and using it with my iWatch.

My wife's been bugging for a peloton and someone who doesn't actively cycle at all, doesn't dive right in on a peloton.

I bought this. What does everyone use for a screen? Would mirroring an iPhone to a large TV be good? Or would you want an iPad or other tablet to preserve the touch screen function?

We have this bike and we just use the basement TV and mirror a phone to the Fire TV Stick. Works great. Plus you can download the Peloton App and it's only $12 a month for all the same classes the actual Peloton bike gets.

When will the $^&# Amazon Prime Echelon bike come back? I like aesthetic more, and the resistance knob issue is important because outside of the pedaling its going to be the most used machinery on the bike.

Is a mat underneath the bike needed/recommended when placing it on a hardwood floor?

Any slick deals on such a mat?

We got our bike from Walmart on Oct. 1, we are having constant Bluetooth issues with it losing connection to our iPhones. I contacted Echelon support but they are really slow to respond so far. Hopefully I can get it resolved.
