Hey everyone, I bought this over a month ago with the colder weather coming, and I just hit my 100th ride this week so I've become pretty used to the system. I've posted this in similar threads to this and people have found it helpful, so here's my how-to Peloton guide that tells you what you need.

Required items you'll need:

Echelon bike [walmart.com]
Peloton app [onepeloton.com]
Peloton subscription (Note, if you have a friend who has a bike subscription you can ask if they'll create an account for you instead to save some money)
Two streaming devices
One to connect to the Echelon app [echelonfit.com] to display your statistics, usually a phone
One to connect to the Peloton app to display the classes, usually a tablet

Optional add-ons to improve the experience

Wahoo cadence sensor [amazon.com] - iOS support only - this attaches to your bike's gearshaft and can be connected to the Peloton app to integrate your cadence. You'll already be getting cadence information from the Echelon app on your phone, but if you want it to display in the Peloton app, you'll need this too.

Polar OH1+ heart rate sensor [amazon.com] - this wraps around your arm and can provide heart rate data to the Peloton app. Instructors will mention heart rate zones to target in advanced classes, so if you want to be able to follow along you'll need this, but it's not required. You will also get more accurate calorie burn counts with your heart rate being measured.

Note: If you are an iOS user and have an Apple Watch, you have a couple options instead of buying a sensor.

Use Peloton app on your iPhone. If you use your iPhone for displaying the class, it will have direct access to your heart rate from your Apple Watch.

Download HeartCast [apple.com] which allows your Apple Watch to broadcast heart rate over bluetooth. You can pair this with your iPad/Android tablet.

Bicycle mat [amazon.com] - The official Echelon mat is 27"x47", so this should fit underneath it to catch your sweat and protect your carpet/hardwood floor.
1-3lb dumbbells [amazon.com] - In some classes, the instructor will tell you to do some lifts, so you'll need a set of light weights
Peloton to Echelon resistance chart [etsy.com] - The instructor will call out numbers to change your bicycle resistance during the class, but the Echelon uses a different scale so you can print this out or buy one to have as a handy reference.
Gel bicycle seat cover [amazon.com] - If you are gonna be spinning for a long time, the gel will help ease any pain you have in your backside

To get the baseline experience done, you'll need to setup your Echelon bike as described in the manual. After physical setup is complete, download the Echelon app to your phone, and then plug in your bike and start the pairing process.

Next, if you bought either of the optional sensors you'll need to pair them with your ipad/android tablet.

Once paired, to get your Echelon app into freestyle mode to display your statistics, go to the bottom right of the app, select "More", then "Freestyle Ride".

Finally, you will then be able to load the Peloton app on your tablet, select a class, and start going.

Thanks, picked one up.

Don't forget Chase Freedom has Walmart as one of the 5% categories this quarter!

You have to pay for the Peloton app correct? My wife wants me to buy her one of these Peloton type bikes and I'm trying to understand the pros and cons. The one review said the only bike that was "open source" allowing you to use any app was the Bowflex but this is half the price.

Personally I figure I will be watching the bike sit in the corner for six months then I will sell it on Craigslist but maybe I'm wrong.

Could you illustrate the steps? Thanks in advance.
Go into your account and cancel the current plan you signed up for (19.99)

Sign out and go to their website and use a different email address and input your Walmart purchase details to trigger the 180 day credit. I was lucky that i used a different email the first time than the email I purchased the bike via Walmart. So the second time I signed up i used the same email i had when I purchased it. So maybe that is why mine worked? Try it, but even if you use a different email you can just call them and tell them i signed up via xxx email, can you please advise why the 180 day credit is not showing up, they will be able to activate you via the phone on the new account.

No. Use this chart. This was built by measuring the power output at different resistance levels. It's not a 1-1 conversion like the etsy chart leads you to believe.

Ordered on Oct 11, still waiting for this to ship. Label and tracking available, but no scan. Anybody order this and actually get it in two days? It says two day shipping now.

edit: Anybody receive theirs shipped from California?
I received shipping information for my order placed on Oct 11. But the weird thing is, shipping label was created on Oct 16 but fedex still doesn't have possession of the item. Currently walmart estimate is Oct 27th vs Fedex estimate Oct 22nd (which seems unlikely).

I placed another order yesterday but canceled it once I got shipping info for my first order.

Anyone else have their resistance max out at 31?
Yep. And even that 31 doesn't seem that hard. Contacted support about it and they said technical support would reach out. Still waiting to hear back.

Fedex still doesnt have mine, they estimate 27th, walmart estimates 22nd. Label created on 13th. Originally supposed to get it tomorrow 21st. I probably would have reordered but they just dropped their 2nd day.

edit: 2nd day shipping is back but mine just shipped finally, one week after the label creation, should arrive 27th. Took long enough.

I created an account online at echolonfit.com. As part of that process, it asks you about your equipment, serial number, where you bought it etc. -- at the end of it, I was presented with a few options, all of which were for 180 days (not 90 days, like some other people saw), and I had a full choice between their most basic and most premium tier. All free for 180 days. I choose the annual subscription and will be billed $399 if I don't cancel before April 18th.

P.S.: Looks like I quoted your post while you were in the process of editing it yourself. Glad you figured it out.

ditto.

however i only got 14 days when i put in the S/N and place of purchase.

I then went to the online chat, told them that I was promised 6 months with the purchase from Walmart and they quickly updated my account to show 180 days. quick and painless

Ordered mine last Friday and it was shipped and delivered today (southern California). After assembling the bike, I found that the Echelon logo was missing on the resistance knob. Contacted Echelon over email and waiting to see what they say... I hope they can just send me that part. I would really hate to have to disassemble, repackage, and exchange the bike.

This was what I saw too.

I just put this together. Just to confirm pieces too discard are the plastic piece you pull out of wheel and two bolts in the beginning, and a plastic piece that has a sticker saying remove tab before use

I also struggled with tightening the pedals, I do not think they are tight enough, trying to get my feet in is tough because the pedal points down to easily

Just put mine together. Anyone have an issue with the right pedal bolt getting stuck? I had to pry that thing on...seems to be holding up though.
Activated my 180 days through the 39.99 subscription on the website.
Yup, I had the same issue

Got mine today. Setup was a breeze besides the right pedal bolt, I have no idea why anyone would pay almost $2k more for a frickin Peloton with this being $500.
