It's not great. The gpu is about as low as can be and is basic obsolete already, 2060's should be at this price or lower by now, but I'm guessing COVID price gouging has kept prices high.
What are you dudes talking about? For $600 ish this is a really good deal! Gtx 1650 ti & 120hz
Searched and saw this low priced "gaming " laptop.... is it a poor build or crappy components?
Depends.
As a pure gaming laptop, it's not great. Like the other commenter said, pretty basic GPU.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a solid work/productivity machine that can also game some, it's a good price IMO. Decent CPU, easily upgradeable RAM and SSD, and the GPU can run most older games well enough. So you can work through your Steam backlog while waiting on deal for the PS5 or Xbox Series X, or components to build a dedicated gaming rig down the road.
Dell has had a long time to figure out proper thermals but still struggles. This one should be decent, since the 1650 isn't super powerful and doesn't generate as much heat. For 2020, Lenovo Legion and HP Omen have laptops with good thermals. Reviews have consistently supported this.
The key for enjoying this laptop would be low expectations. I tried and returned Dell's G series and here is what I learned: Not every.single.computer with a discrete GPU should be marketed as a gaming rig. This is just a laptop.
For comparison two years ago I got a HP i5, 8gb ram, 1080p, 1tb HD, 1050ti for $600 on BF from Walmart. This is a solid deal but I think you can do better on BF if you can wait.
With these specs it plays any game I need but would disappoint some who want max settings at 1440... but to get that you would spend a lot more.
Thanks. Would you agree that the main difference between 1660ti is that it can handle VR, but the 1650ti would struggle?
Tbh, i'm not into gaming/graphics as much as I was before. But I think it would get bottleneck because of the heat generated by both graphics and CPU. If it were able to push to a eGPU via TB, then VR would handle it easier (or you run a way better discrete GPU with good airflow into the laptop). Heat = no bueno on these laptops lol. The website did say if you get the 1660ti on this, there is a thunderbolt port. Added bonus
I run a xps15 with 8th gen i7 and 1050ti, and I lag sometimes on Warzone and had to turn my graphics down.
Depends on what you play but I play shooters and mobas and the 1650ti has got my needs well. I don't have 120hz but I wish I did. This is a great deal.

I added the Ti Max Q too
Used to be a gamer but I just want a beefy laptop that will last a few years at this point.
Thanks for the post!
