Walmart has Shark Navigator CU500 Upright Vacuum w/ Self-Cleaning Brushroll on sale for $98. Free shipping may be available in select areas, otherwise choose store pickup where available. Thanks iconian
Just ordered with no issue. As a cleaning business owner, I have had several shark vacuum cleaners and would recommend this vacuum. The self cleaning brush roll is worth every penny. The best one is the powered lift away duo clean because you can go under furniture with it which is awesome and it literally picks up every speck of dust with the soft brush roll.
I picked this up for $98 at local Walmart. Said it was out of stock at my store, but actually had around 6 in stock (note: they were not in same area as all other vacuums).
Hopefully I can answer a few questions I had:
Yes - it does lift away (the 1st pic on Walmart website is wrong, it's not the Deluxe Lift Away, it's the Professional Lift Away). Just used this on my stairs.
The head actually swivels, which is not listed as one of the features.
3 modes: Off, Hard Floor, Carpet. Carpet engages the brush roll.
Cord is 25 ft. Plenty of length for walking up and down a regular set of stairs.
Felt a little heavier than I would have liked, but 1. I think I'm used to using a motorized head and 2. I'm lazy. This is not a deal breaker for me.
The body and connectors are made of plastic, which felt slightly cheap to me. Again, for $98 not a deal breaker. $200 I might look elsewhere.
Comes with a crevice tool and a pet multi tool. They are standard but very useful.
No physical pedal/release to disengage the handle from the upright position. You just put your foot on the floor head and pull down, if that makes sense.
Roller brush stops when you re-engage the handle back to upright position, which is a nice feature.
Hose length full extended might be around 6 feet. Felt a bit short if you need super high reach, but again, it is a lift off so you shouldn't need a 12 ft. hose.
Will not go under a bed/couch, but this isn't designed to do that. I think you can buy a tool if you need under the bed/couch.
Power button is on the main body, would have liked it on the handle for convenience, but not a deal breaker at all.
Best feature: Thing is a super sucker. Just vacuumed my BR and was disgusted and delighted all at once. Picked up a TON of dust, hair, and other stuff I didn't realize was there.
For $98, I think this is a no brainer if you can find it. Shark is great and the suction is top notch. Wish it was a little lighter, hose was slightly longer ,and connections felt more solid, but great deal overall.
Got one yay!!!! The way to know you're old, you're excited to buy a vacuum for black Friday sales. šššš.

Kind of weird that the CU500 is not displayed on their upright vacuums page. You have to either google CU500 or search CU500 on the Shark vacuum page to get any info. Is this a model that has been replaced with a newer one?

I think it is because this is a Shark model that is sold exclusively at Walmart. Walmart's page listed it as "only at Walmart".
That being said this model is a new model. The quick setup diagrams on the box and manual literally had wrong instructions and my family was confused at where the attachment holder went because of it. I even thought that the box might be missing a plastic ring that is supposed to be attached to the hose which holds the hose to the long tube, because the diagrams showed the hose having it. Turns out the diagrams are all for the older model and not for this cu500 model.
What I find odd is that some Walmart stores have already begun to clearance out this model from their shelves and that you can only order this vacuum online from Walmart's website now. Not that I'm complaining that walmart stores are cutting down the price of this vacuum. I got lucky and managed to buy this vacuum for $60 at a Walmart store that luckily had one left. Other lucky folks have been able to snag this vacuum for as low as $50.
Based on the reviews, I ordered this vacuum. It arrived yesterday and it's awesome. For $100 it's a great deal. Took up a ton of pet hair off the carpet! I've been using my old vaccine every other day...first time using the shark, I got a ful container of dog hair. Def recommend for the price.

Lol same here. Confused about the instructions.
It was delivered yesterday and tried after setup. Literally it sucked so much dust and hair. Loved it
I just found one at a Walmart nearby (Frisco, TX). They had a ton in store when I was there. Brought it home and tested it out. We have a cat at home that sheds quite a bit. Initial impressions are that it's a little heavy but well built. The suction on it is insanely strong coming from a small Dyson. I vacuumed two rooms and it picked up sooooo much hair. There was some hair that got wrapped around roller but after awhile, you'll see that it eventually cleans itself and you find the hair in the cannister. The lift away option is great. Overall, this is a great value. I am in love with this vacuum and I hate cleaning. My carpets feel better than they have in awhile. Huge recommendation from me.
Any help would be appreciated! I'm currently using my grandma's old Oreck upright. I love her dearly and don't want to get rid of it but it's not a very good vacuum!!
For $50 more you get what looks like a bigger canister and headlights. Headlights is a nice feature. But you lose the anti-hair brush roll and it is almost 1lb heavier than the CU500. Id keep the CU500

Folks, have read through most of the comments. I don't see anyone asked this question. How this is compared to macys nv 105 ? Nv 105 had it for 78.. thank toy everyone for sharing their experience and feedback. This helps lot of people who are in fence in buying new vaccum.

The cu500 is better than the nv105. It has the new self cleaning brush head and it has lift away. The nv105 doesn't have either feature. The only thing that the nv105 is better at is having a larger dust bin than the cu500. Spend a little extra and get the cu500.
can anyone tell me how to look up serial number on this vaccum? the listed number is not getting accepted for registration in shark site
Ppl earlier mentioned that they had to call customer care at Shark and registered manually with some number on handle. I will also try that route tomorrow.
Used this vacuum last night for the first time. I could not believe how much dirt and other stuff it picked up compared to my old bagged vacuum. This thing kicks butt.
Thats great, long hair is a big issue in my house and i've spent way too much time cleaning rollers. That said, I don't understand how this technology works. I mean, its a roller, how does hair not get tangled? Does the hair get sucked into the cup? I guess i'll take a look when I receive it but I can't find any information online about how it actually works.
Sorry to rejuvenate an old thread, but there are prongs on the top side of the rolling head that is stationary. Anytime a hair that is wrapped up on the rollers spins, it latches onto these prongs, essentially tearing it to pieces, which in turn the vacuum sucks it up. With each rotation, it tears more and more. For this particular vacuum, after a session of vacuuming, it is best to leave thevacuum on about 15 to 30 seconds ( depending on severity) to get all the hairs untangled. You can see the progress on the clear see through vacuum head. Once its done, turn it off.

Can anyone help me understand the difference between this one (CU500) and the NV586? The NV586 is also highly rated but $50 more. He says it's superior, I'm not so sure Any thoughts?
