2 sodimm slots for RAM upgradable to 64GB using two 32GB 3200 DDR4 sodimm. See proof of 64GB screenshot below for the HP direct 4700u which use the same chassic and MB as this one
One NVME slot
HDMI 2.0 and Displayport over usb-C for two 4K60hz outputs
This has DisplayPort 1.4 support which can support 4K display at 120 Hz. If a compatible dock is used which can take single DP 1.4 stream and divide it to 2 Display 1.2 port out using MST (Multi-Stream Transport) then you can actually run 2x4K monitor at 60 Hz resolution.
Battery life is so and so due to the weak 41wh battery: 4.5 hr of playing 4K x265 movies with screen at lowest brightness and battery saver mode using mpc-hc going from 100% to 10% battery.
11/14/20 Update:
I picked one up this morning in store at 5am (I was not able to snag one during the online sale). USB C PD 60w charger confirmed working. Though there are apparently some small differences in models as mine does not have back lit keyboard as some in the thread have said. The back lit keyboard is not advertised, so no big deal. Just cross your fingers and hope for one if you have one incoming.
Backlit keyboard appears to be part of certain built date, which would be indicated by the 0XX number in the middle of the serial number, 0 is 2020... XX is XXth week of the year.. If your serial number has 035 or lower then it has backlit,, 037 or higher has no backlit. We are still missing the status for the 036 ones. . Please post in the thread your built date and if you have backlit or not.
Someone mentioned that there is a connector inside for a backlight keyboard. What type of connector, or if it can be purchsed, soldered, or found something that will fit without voiding the warranty, I do not know.
Also the keyboard is apparently transparent. So if you know how to wire up some leds under your keyboard, or light up the vents, use your imagination. But make sure that it's not permanent, for warrantys sake.
So does that mean that if there's a plug for the keyboard, that the F11 key should work? - I'll have to get back to you.
What about the recent BF deal at Best Buy or Walmart? It shows lots of šš¼ on front
Page. There were laptops in the similar specs for similar price point, no?
Nope, still cant beat our beloved Horizon Blue deal.
But still doesnt quite match the horizon blue due to the usb-c not equipped with DP and PD as well as HDMI not specified to be 2.0....
Nope still cant beat it. Don't like the ugly, old fashioned silver color of that lappy either.
What's wild is I am writing this right now, sitting in the exact same spot where this laptop got knocked on the tile floor by a very sweet bird dog (she didn't mean to I'm sure of it). I do pet sitting for the owners every year around this time. This time I have the charging cord wire blocked off! LOL

Hey Wildpig, hope your Horizon Blue is doing good still. Over the last 4 months,I've been getting quite a few BSOD (blue screen of death) errors. Have you had any? I havent had any now for a week, but really upset about this.
I upgraded the RAM in mine to 16GB. Mine has been running great the last year and a half. I haven't had any issues at all, no BSOD. The battery life is not good, but I use mine as a desktop replacement, and I'm near a plug all the time.
Has anyone installed any Linux distros? A while back, I tried running a live USB of ? MX-19 or MX-20, I can't remember, but wifi didn't work out of the box. I think the wifi card is support by newer kernels, 5.10 or os. I want to try the newer version for AMD chipsets, MX-21_x64 "ahs". Live USB of Mint ? 20 XFCE had issues with graphics (no multiple monitors), wifi didn't work, and touchpad also with issues. I didn't do a lot of troubleshooting as Windows 10 was working fine for me. However, eventually, I am interesting in running Linux from an external SSD or USB (MX-Linux).

Mine has been in the box since BF 2020. I recently outgrew my Dell Inspiron 2n1 i3 laptop with 12GB RAM and decided it was time to crack the seal.
I upgraded to 64GB RAM and installed Lubuntu 20.04. The only problem thus far is that it doesn't wake from Suspend. So, I disabled it until I can find a reliable solution.
With Lubuntu and 64GB, this laptop is a screamer. I'm happy with the purchase.

Darn, the lack of USB-C charging is a bummer. https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/frown.gif

Still on S mode ever since I got this deal.
This is my part time laptop as light usage, along with my 12' 2015 MacBook air.
I am looking to get an iPad as my media consumption. This HP laptop is just too big for media consumption on bed lol.
My 2016 SE iPhone isn't helping, even with the battery case lol.
