It's the same price from Canon directly, plus you can get an extra 20% off by calling their sales department and getting a loyalty discount if you already have a Canon camera. You do have to provide them with the serial number of your current camera.

Pretty good option if you already have a cam. But for people without canons already and a pay boo card BH is the better option.
cpricewatch.com has this body for $1,449 currently. Greentoe will give it to you for the same price probably as well. I expect this body to be at or below $1,400 for Black Friday now that the R5 and R6 came out. I would not be shocked if it were $1,200 for a day or two. I also expect the Canon RP to be $800 or lower (you can already net it for $800 if you sell the kit lens that comes with it). Both are great cameras. Neither is state of the art (they never were, even when newly released), but you won't notice that in your images. Both are very capable cameras. the only rub I have is the poor Dynamic Range (especially for the RP).

Patiently waiting for a deal on RP with 24-240mm lens. I think, 24-240mm lens might be a better than 24-105 STM lens in terms of range, Speed and IQ.
This was $1299 last December with a free adaptor thrown in. I checked through my emails and noticed that B&H send out their best Canon offers every December for the past few years. I'm waiting for next month hopefully for some RF lens discounts again.
While you really can't go wrong with any modern full frame camera, for people without an existing set of lens and assessories, I'd still probably recommend the A7iii over this at this price. This has slightly better ergonomics, higher res displays, and and a flippy screen for those recording themselves. The A7iii has a better sensor and much better fleshed out native ecosystem. When you factor in lenses (like the Tamron 28-75), you'll probably end up paying less and getting slightly better results.

Disagree. Canon RF lenses are the way forward. They're putting everything into this system now. All the pros I know who jumped the gun and switched to Sony are coming back to Canon in droves now.

Canon RF glass has been amazing and many of the lenses are quite unique. However, they are very expensive and you don't have lower priced options available (unlike Sony which has expensive GM lenses and affordable Tamron and Sigma lens). Unfortunately, for someone getting in (not a pro) and not hoping to spend $2.5k per lense, most of those RF lens are no-go due to cost. If they can afford those lenses, then they should be looking at the R5 and R6, not this body.

Canon just started with making cheap glass. They have 24-105mm and 24-240mm kit lens. They just released nifty fifty version of RF lens. One can find nice and cheap EF glass to use. There is rumor about making FF camera cheaper than RP.

The commitment from canon on rf system is very serious. there will have third party glass coming out next year for sure. I believe sigma is working on it.
I personally just sold R and got R5, but R is a great camera for still image if you don't do action shots heavily.

I don't believe the Canon EOS R was that price. I've been keeping an eye on it for over a year. Maybe the RP went to that price with a lens and adapter.
