FYI, this is not able to be purchased without signing up for a Verizon account
MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE PAY IN FULL BETWEEN STEPS 4 AND 5

DO NOT add to cart unless you have or plan to open a Verizon account. You will not be able to access your cart to remove the phone without logging in to Verizon or signing up for Verizon.

Edit: If you do get stuck on the Verizon log in page without access to your cart, go back and add an unlocked version to your cart. That will move you past the Verizon log in screen

Question which everyone would like to see answered:

Will the following steps work? Never had experience with VZN, so need some inputs here:

Step1: Buy phone, create a new VZN account
Step2: Activate line once the phone arrives
Step3: Cancel line and close account within 3 days to get refunded
Step4: Phone gets unlocked 60 days after activation, automatically.

If this works, this is a wonderful deal, else YMMV.

Answer - The above won't work, as the phone would only be unlocked if you stay in-service for 60 days. But you'd still be able to use the phone on a Verizon-MVNO such as Visible.

Per #678:
Service is not required to be maintained for 60 days. The moment you place an active verizon sim inside and place a single call, the 60 day countdown is started, regardless if service is maintained after that one call is placed. In addition, the phone is NOT unlocked for use on an MVNO until *AFTER* the 60 days. It's not like AT&T where you can use a locked device on an MVNO. The phone is completely and utterly tied to VERIZON POSTPAY (not even prepay will work) until unlocked.

IMO, I would say on par with a s9 plus. Add 5g, lose out on a snapdragon 8xx series processor. Camera is about the same.
Need to be a Verizon customer or register to Verizon

how do you find the timer to check? My phone should be unlocked by now, but I checked the Visible IMEI checker and it is not

Edit: tried Tmobile Sim card, it works for call and text but no data.

I guess Visible is a D1ck and won't allow this phone on their network? I thought Visible uses Verizon.

Anyone have this issue??

I bought 4 of these phones on 4 different accounts in Dec.
All phones arrived (2 trade-in's were accepted) (2 more are in pnrocess).
Never activated any of these phones on any of these lines. I sold one, pulled the sim card out... never booted up the phone with that card in it... (nor did I use that sim on any other phone).

Now I want to upgrade to the S21 ultra on my account, but it keeps saying "pending order" on all 4 lines I want to upgrade and won't let me. The rep I'm talking to doesn't know how to resolve this. She is calling tech... I told her it is probably the sim card is expecting to auto-activate the new device on the number and since I have never powered on the phones that is probably what is holding things up...

Any ideas? Anyone dealt with this?

Thanks.
You have 4 pending orders on your account. Call in to Verizon to clear the orders. Worst case scenario you'll have to temporarily activate each A71 on the lines they were intended for and then switch back to your current devices.

Has anyone been able to install the stock Samsung firmware on this device to remove all the Verizon bloatware? Will doing this alter any functionality of the phone?

In my experience, only the Verizon firmware gives access to the Verizon virtual voice mail app. If you stay on Verizon, that would be a loss in my book. If not, then it's not a loss. But I haven't done this for a long time, and I haven't done it on my s21.

I calculated 60 days from the day of activation (12/19/2020). I will try another carrier Sim on the phone on or after 2/17/2021.

My phone is unlocked. Put a T-Mobile Prepaid sim in it and it works. Tested call, text and data. Ran a speed test too:

Will test ATT Prepaid later this afternoon when I have access to a sim.

When did you activate? Did you try after 60 days?

I don't remember when exactly I activated it on Verizon but it must have been 60 days already because it's unlocked. By activating, I mean just having an active Verizon sim in it for one test call and that's it. I put the sim back in my primary phone right after the test call. The A71 sat powered off for 2 months. Rough estimate puts the 60 day mark to sometime this weekend so that's why I tried the T-Mobile sim today.

Thanks for the info. Cool to know the UW gets 5g on other carriers.

I just tested mine and its unlocked too, when I put in my T-Mobile prepaid I can see 5G but speed is no where near my T-Mobile branded A71 5G, also I see 1-2 bars on the UW while my T-Mobile branded A71 5G gets full bars... will do more testing to confirm.

Strangely my phone is unlocked too (before 60 days). I put my Mint Sim (T-Mobile MVNO) in it. Tested call, text and data and they are working.

I am getting 5G with 2 bars but it is toggling between this and 4G LTE most of the time. If 4G LTE, then getting 3-4 bars.
