In person? I've never tried to get a free line because the 55+ plans are excluded.
No, called 611 and asked if I could add a free line and she checked and said Yes, simple as that.

Is it possible to move a line from one T-mobile account to another as a free line? What if I port the line out first? Is there a waiting period to port it back in as a free line? I want to keep the number, but convert it to a free line.

Possibly.

Personally had bad experiences with tmobile where they screwed up bills for over 6 months of calling and hours trying to fix and get wrong bills credited.

I hope my plan is eligible, the previous free line offer, they told me my plan was not eligible, I'm on the "T-Mobile ONE All-In Promo", Code "FRLTUL2LP" plan.
Doubt it. Your plan is almost never included in free line deal, you will have to change your plan to get free lines. I think the issue with that plan is that it is capped at 3 lines and there is not an upgrade to more lines without a plan change. I had that plan in the past and just changed because I was missing on too many free lines. You have to think if it's worthy to you.

Some tForce could move you to 9-12 One plan. Just have to find who willing to do it. It is there.
Agree, I've had this done but you have to get a helpful tforce agent willing to do it. Then wait for your next bill to confirm it was transferred correctly.

Is it really free tho? I did it a few months ago and they charged me tax which in Cali is 3 bucks
Then that is "Cali" adding the Tax... Added a "free line" in July, no changes to my bill at all.. (Texas)

When you join with 2 qualifying lines.

With monthly bill credits. Monthly Regulatory Programs (RPF) & Telco Recovery Fee (TRF) totaling $3.18 per voice line ($0.60 for RPF & $2.58 for TRF) applies; taxes/fees approx. 4-38% of bill. Limited-time offer; subject to change. For existing single-line or new customers. Qualifying credit and Essentials or Magenta plan required. Credits may take up to 2 bill cycles; credits will stop if you cancel any lines. Limit 1/account. May not be combinable with some offers or discounts.
