What Do I Need To Do To Get This Offer?
  • This is a targeted offer from T-Mobile and is only open to select existing customers that meet the following requirement:
    • You must have a qualifying T-Mobile postpaid plan with 2 or more lines that falls under one of the following SOC Codes shown in this image (see instructions below on how to find your SOC code).
      • SOC (Service Order Code): The technical term used to describe plans and services that are added to customers' accounts within T-Mobile's billing systems.
    • If you are certain you qualify, login to your account below and:
    • Alternatively, you may call T-Mobile and a representative can assist you with adding your 3rd line.
      • If calling, promotion name is "2020 Line On Us 4".
Instructions to find your SOC code (thanks to Reddit user massiveprodigy):
  1. Using the Google Chrome web browser (desktop version), open the Developer tools panel on the right (Ctrl+Shift+I)
  2. Click on Network tab
  3. Click on XHR tab
  4. Log in my.t-Mobile.com and click Account at the top.
  5. In developer tools panel, choose manageaccount from the list on the left
  6. Account level promos will appear under accountDiscounts
  7. Line level features will appear under lines > # > addOns
  8. If there is a pending change, you can see exactly what it is by clicking productsPendingChange
  9. Rate plan appears under ratePlans
Can This Be Combined With Other Offers?

I have not. I just added it on Nov 27, so it would have to be a really recent crackdown. Admittedly, I use alot of social engineering during my phone calls. We talk about our kids and family, holiday plans, life at TMO over the years (I used to work for Voicestream in college), etc. I ask for the TMO promo as a fairness bit, since everyone else has it, why not this line too?

If they dont give it, I have no issue using VPN to get the 1080p streaming.

Be careful. Here is the actual wording as per internal documents as provided by a rep on chat line. The language surrounding Dec 20, 2020 is ambiguous. But it appears the intent is to allow customers that have enrolled in free line offer from before (not including last month). You may run into trouble if you double dip.

* Limitations
1 redemption (1 free voice line with this offer) per account; can be combined with previous free lines.
Exception: From December 20, 2020 - TBA, customers could only participate in one of the following free line offers:
Get a free voice line with qualifying plan "2020 Line On Us 4"
Magenta "2020 3rd Line On Us 3"
3rd Voice Line Free Essentials "2020 Essentials Line on Us 4"

I have an old Simple Choice Plan with 3 lines.
I now qualify for Magenta/Plus which would make 2 of those lines totally unlimited.
Could I switch my 3-line plan to 2 Magentas + one free line per this offer?

It only qualifies with a new "paid" lines. The free lines are explicitly excluded from the promo. You will end up paying for the line.

3rd line on us is a completely different promo than line on us 4. That is the open 2 lines and get the third free. That's where the majority of the reps are confused.

Essentially if you opened a new account recently and got the 3rd line free after 12/20 you do not qualify for the 4th free line. However if you opened your lines before the 20th you are.

Do I need to have a phone available to get the free line?

If I do... I already have two free lines for my young kids that aren't being used. Could I use one of those phones again? (T-Mobile must have those IMEIs.)

Now why would T-mobile allow a customer enrolled on Dec 19 and not on Dec 20. It does not make logical sense. I think it means if you already double dipped you are fine but we won't let you double dip from now on.

Because they are two separate promotions. If you activated before before the 20 you are not restricted by the new terms of the second promotion therefore you maintain eligibility for the second free line.
