You're gonna be mad at the end. You're not going to get you're taxes refunded/ pay a restocking fee / ship the phone back and pay for 1 month of line usage.
Got a free Samsung A11 with the free line promotion last month. What you said has not happened. Paperworks are the same except A11 was cheaper.

What does Tmobile gain from the free line?
They can report to the financial markets a large account/number gain.

just chatted with the rep in the app.
military account is ineligible as always.

but I like how they are boasting about my account is saving a lot of money.
when i responded back "am I still saving a lot when regular accounts got 4 free lines this year?" if I got 8 lines, would mine still be cheaper than theirs?"

she got quiet real quickly. because they are the same price assuming magenta with 4 lines plus 4 free lines. it's $160 vs $160 and regular account has more future deals to come. then military account is no longer a bargain.

Anyone else having issues finding their SOC? After following the steps outlined, the brackets after accountDiscounts is blank, and it doesn't drop down to expose more info...

Mine was similar with 8 lines. I just changed to 9 line plan yesterday. The new plan starts at $310 for 9 lines before all the discounts. When all the discounts are applied, the new total will be the similar to the 8 line plan since the new added line is a free line.
I see the same $310 price change on account history. On your cost details page do you see your monthly plan cost? Mine went down quite a bit. Weird

Is it really free tho? I did it a few months ago and they charged me tax which in Cali is 3 bucks
That's completely up to your state laws, really. If you're not going to use the line, yeah, it's pointless to pay taxes on something you're not using.

Just curious, but I see a lot of comments saying they don't need another line but will definitely add a free one. What purpose does that serve?
Phones with dual sims, one line for business one line for personal.

Those with little kids, when you travel, use it to activate find my iPhone and put the phone in their pockets.

Edit: technically they have no idea yet, what to use it for, but couple if things there to use this free line

To all the people out there, free phones do not stack with this current free line promo. Any rep out there telling you it does is lying to you and is just trying to get a sale. They don't care if they are wrong or not, they just want to hit their numbers. Whatever happens in the future is your problem when you end up paying for the "free line" because you thought you could stack a free phone with it. T mobile learned from their mistakes from the Sept line on us 2.
Are the calls recorded for QA though?
Wouldn't they have to honor the agreement
I thought i saw recently that there was a lawsuit or something against mobile for enticing customers with free line promos and then charging them
The customers got a reimbursement I think
If they are not recorded is there any app you could use to record the call?

No trade in needed. Amazing.
I'd double and triple check if I were you since I have a feeling you're new at this. Let's ignore for a moment that you're actually NOT able to stack iphone on us w/ FREE line, but let's assume the system bypasses. I'm pretty sure Trade in has always been required for 1x iPhones since forever. See current deal below. So either cancel that ip12 order or find a phone to trade in and place a new order to get your full $830. You may not see the free line promo dropped but believe me you will need a trade in to get that $830 RDC. If you want an Android then sure, but for iPhones no one gets 1 free without a trade in. There are BOGO but that requires buying 2 iPhones. But to get 1 iphone you will need to re-order w/ a trade in and print out the label and mail it out.

See how to save $830 when you join & trade in an eligible iPhone.

How to get this offer:

Activate a new line of service on an eligible plan.
Purchase an iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro Max, or iPhone 12 Pro device on a monthly payment plan and pay applicable sales tax on pre-credit price.
Trade in an eligible device in good condition:

Get up to $830 off:
Apple: iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone X, iPhone XR

Get up to $600 off:
Apple: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus

Get up to $450 off:
Apple: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus

Receive a one-time bill credit based on your trade-in value, and the balance of the offer via 30 monthly bill credits for the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Pro or 24 monthly bill credits for the iPhone 12 mini.

But those paid lines are the numbers that u have for years . No one wanna lose those numbers and get new number. Any workaround ?
Quote from rage4order :
And lose the number you've already been using??
One of the paid lines I have on the account is extra and the other one is my real number. I need to bring my paid lines down to two on the account (currently 4).
After one year I port 2 paid lines to Mint or Visible BYOD for 3 months. Then port them back to TMobile to replace the free lines on the account.
