Starting December 20th customers on an eligible plan with at least 2 paid lines can add a line for free.

Eligible SOC list: https://i.imgur.com/LZegl3r.jpg

Please note: There's a lot of misinformation and confusion around this promo. Inevitable when a promo like this happens half a month after an identical one just ended. Here are some critical nuggets of info:
  • The promo is called "2020 Line On Us 4"
  • It is fully stackable with "2020 Line On Us 3"
  • Internal docs mention a scenario where it isn't stackable. It is referring to "third line free" promos and only to accounts opened on the 20th or later. This appears to be causing confusion.
  • The promo seems to be showing on accounts as line on us 3 (double if you already had it). It's a known issue and being worked on. Will not affect eligibility.

Offer now available. Some reps are not yet aware of the promo's existence, so please be patient with them. You can also add the line as normal online and the promo will automatically apply within a bill cycle.

Ineligible stackable promos:
  • iPhone 12 "on us" (2020 Apple Trade Activate P3)
  • BOGO iPhone (2020 Apple Buy 2 P11)
  • Free Galaxy A71 5G with new line (2020 Samsung Activate P12)
  • Free OnePlus 8/8T+ 5G with new line (2020 OnePlus Activate P5)
  • Costco BYOD promos
  • TFB-exclusive promos

(PS: check this post here https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/..._your_soc/ to get a Chrome or Firefox extension that will make finding your SOC easy, or see the guide here https://reddit.com/r/tmobile/comm...soc_codes/ to find it manually)

Still on TMO ONE All In Promo plan (FRLTUL2LP) which is never eligible for free lines?

This is a great (grandfathered) plan as it gives you 2 lines for $100 or $80 after 2GB data limit kickback on the 2 lines (or even less if you have the plan with T-Mobile employee hookup code). Plus with the additional promotion you get HD streaming, 10GB full speed hotspot and twice the international data speed (256kbs instead of 128kbs).

BUT... this account only supports 3 lines and unless you got the one free line they offered once under this plan you never got and will never get a free line with the plan.

But if the plan works out for you can move to another T-Mobile One plan (FRLTULF2) which cost a little bit more (2 lines for $120 or $100 after kickbacks) but you will be eligible for the free line and hopefully for additional free lines in the future (the plan supports up to 8 lines in total). The reps are also be able to move the kickback and ONE Plus promotion to the new plan. They might not do it immediately for the new free line but this is also possible and might need another try.
Plus the new plan includes $10.99 Netflix Standard HD account contribution which also needs to be factored in as a bonus.

If you want to get out of that hole and make the change here is my conversation regarding the plan change with T-Force on Twitter:
https://slickdeals.net/f/14713250-t-mobile-customers-add-a-line-for-free-starting-december-20th?p=144023981#post144023981

Then I called 611 at night and asked the overseas team to also add the promo add-ons to new free line so that all lines on the account have the ONE Plus promo (no kickback on the free line of course):
https://slickdeals.net/f/14713250-t-mobile-customers-add-a-line-for-free-starting-december-20th?p=144031265#post144031265

Summary of the process and overview of changes:
https://slickdeals.net/f/14713250-t-mobile-customers-add-a-line-for-free-starting-december-20th?p=144039584#post144039584

As I wrote it needs some time and the right reps to make it happen as I struggled with reps in the past to switch to a different T-Mobile One plan and not ending up with a Magenta plan and losing the kickback and One Plus promotion.
Good luck!

-----------------------------------------------------
Regarding costs to add new line

If you add the line via the website, youll pay $10 for the SIM card to be shipped to you.
If you add the line via a phone call, youll pay the $10 SIM card charge and also $20 for assisted set-up. It is relatively easy to get both of these comped.
If you have a spare sim-card or eSIM, you can use that instead of paying $10 for a new one (bear in mind that it may not be able to do SA 5G). You will need to call since the website does not allow re-use of old cards. (You can also do this via online chat support lines like in-app chat and t-force on twitter)
Expired cards do work, but you have to request a replacement. Again, no SA 5G.
If you have a Costco near you, they will give you the sim card and activate for you for free. You also may get the YMMV $100 cash card (but so far the jury is out if it actually will go through)

My current plan is FUTTVN (Simple Choice Unlimited Talk & Text) which caps out at 5 lines. I did the last free line promo, so I'm not able to add an additional line due to the cap. I would love to switch to SCFUTT4 (Simple Choice 2.5gb). The plans are similar with similar base prices, should a T-force representative be able to help me with this?

A Costco rep told me T-Mobile should be able to help switch me to a different SC plan without the 5 line cap; I wanted to run this by here to see if this is feasible before spending hours waiting...

Quote from bmadrid79 :
In September I attempted to add a free line (Line On Us 2 - 20Q32S). Below is my billing before and after adding the "free" line.

Prior Sept. 2020
Simple Choice (I think I had SCFUTT4)
5 lines (2 lines/$80 + 3 lines/$10 each) = $110
Data Add-Ons ($55):
2 lines x SOC: "SCUNL2HHS", name: "Unlimited Nationwide 4G" ($20 x 2)
1 line x SOC: "V6GXDATA", name: "Unlimited High-Speed Included w/ 6GB Mobile Hotspot" ($15)
1 line x SOC: "6SFMGGBB", name: "Unlimited High-Speed Included w/ 6GB Mobile Hotspot" ($0)
1 line no data ($0)
Discount Code: "EMPGSA" (-15%)
$110+55= $165 - discount = $140.25 plus taxes

After Sept. 2020
Simple Choice "SCFUTT6"
6 lines/$120
Data Add-Ons ($55):
2 lines x SOC: "SCUNL2HHS", name: "Unlimited Nationwide 4G" ($20 x 2)
1 line x SOC: "V6GXDATA", name: "Unlimited High-Speed Included w/ 6GB Mobile Hotspot" ($15)
3 lines SOC: "6SFMGGBB", name: "Unlimited High-Speed Included w/ 6GB Mobile Hotspot" ($0)
Discount Code: "EMPGSA" (-15%)
$120+55= $175 - discount = $148.75 plus taxes

I'm currently not receiving a discount for (Line On Us 2 - 20Q32S). Is this because the representative changed my rate plan to SCFUTT6 when I added the line?
Can I receive that discount while being on this plan that has a base rate for 6 lines? If I can't receive the discount while on this rate plan, can a representative look up my previous rate plan and switch it back, so I get the discount?

Next, the representative I've been working with won't adjust the data SOCs on the 3 lines that have data add-ons totaling $55. Any idea how I can ask another rep for adjusting the SOCs? If I can get all my data for free, I'd drop trying to get the discount for the Sept line that I'm missing...Any advice on what to do, how to maximize discounts, and decrease my bill is greatly appreciated.

Lastly, in November I successfully added "2020 Line On Us 3 - 20Q43S) with data line soc: "10SFMGB", name: "Unlimited High-Speed Included w/ 10GB Mobile Hotspot" for $0 plus taxes. I'd like to add another line, but would like to get my September issue resolved first. Just mentioning the SOCs as a reference point, in the case it helps anyone.

Wow that's a pretty good deal on your plan. I wonder if its the 10sfmgb that is causing the problem?

I have 3 lines with the SCUNL2HHS that I want to convert to 6SFMGGBB. I'm curious as to how you were able to get the 6SFMGGBB added onto your 1 line prior to Sept 2020 in the first place? Seems like that is the hardest thing to do right now.

Since you already have it, I'm guessing as long as you keep trying, a knowledgeable rep might be willing to help. It took me 3 different tries to get a rep to upgrade a June/july free line from 2.5gb to 4gb and it required a supervisor (had I known about 6SFMGGBB last week, I wouldve asked for that instead) Perhaps you can start by why you dont get line discount and ask them to change the 10sfmgb soc code to 6SFMGGBB to see if that fixes the problem (unless you want the 10gb hotspot). If they can do it, then mention how you want all your lines to be on the same SOC 6SFMGGBB? The rep who originally helped you do the 3 lines was really nice since you only asked for line.

I need to find out if I can switch numbers and lines within the account so that I can move a heavy data number to the free line to continue to receive kickbacks on the existing line. If that makes sense. Wink
You can very easily disable the 2nd cellular line in settings when you want to use 5g and then enable it when you need the 2nd line. I use the 2nd line on my phone mainly for T-Mobile Tuesdays so just need to enable it for a short period of time otherwise I'm either on WiFi or 5g even though I have esim and physical sim on my 12 max. Little inconvenient but serves my purpose.

free replacement from store or online?

Free, I think both. You just have to verify the sim info to prove that you bought it.

its all depends on how much u pay for each additional line. in my case its $20. so $40 is correct for me ($20x2)
I pay $25 without auto pay. With Auto pay, it is $20. Does the auto pay discount for this free line shows up separately? As I mentioned, it didn't show up for me. In my case, it should have been $40 LOU3 and then additional $5 in AutoPay...instead it did $45 LOU3. Not sure if others have seen this or not. Thx. This is the 8th line. There is no AutoPay discount for the 8th line. Just for 7 lines as before (10+25). I don't know if the data trick clears some of this up like last time.

really?? geez. I threw out probably 5 or more of them...back when they were like 50 cents or something. I still have two of them. Whats the procedure?

I don't think it would work for my purpose as it's to use the uncapped (no kickback) free data volume on the free line. For that the line would have to be enabled under cellular options for most of the time.
Though I haven't really seen too much value out of 5G in my area to be honest.

That's what happened to me until someone said t-mobile replaced for free. All you have to do is contact tmobile and tell them your purchased unactivated sim cards are expired and ask them to replace them.

I just asked them on Twitter if the new line can be activated on SIM cards I still had laying around. The iPhone 12s recently ordered via apple.com came with new T-Mobile SIM cards so I kept my old ones as spares.

Do you have to pay any sim card and activation fees? I was told I am gonna be charged $30 in shipping + fees.
