To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Awesome deal for my S9. Wonder if Costco comes up with rebate deal instead of this EIP deal. Prefer outright deal.

Free SmartTag too, I guess?

Wow, just went to that link and screenshot it. That makes this deal great even with all of the various discounts/tricks at samsung.com. I don't mind the bill credits, I've been with T-Mobile for 14 years now.

So do we also get the $60 accessory credit for the pre-registration?

So $800+tax-$800 (S10e) and $100 and maybe $60 more accessories credit.

Right?

I have Note 9. IF I go with this deal, what am I losing/gaining?

Let's say S21 Ultra for $399 after trade in.

Looks like I gain 5G, slightly faster processor, POSSIBLY better camera probably better trade in value later.
Loses headphone jack, SD card slot.

What if I get S21 256GB for $50 after trade in? $800 trade in is PROBABLY the best I would get for my Note 9 going forward IMHO.

From what i gather, there is no added line requirement for trade in (only for BOGO), correct?
I also have Note 9. Was really hoping for Note 20 offer

Prefer the Samsung website deal for the ultra

No 24 months bullshit
$60 pre reservation extra accessory credit
The student discount applies on phones and accessories
with Student discount $260 credit gets you the airbuds pro, the case with pen, the pen and you can add the SmartThings camera on top le thé shitty gamepad.

The you add the notmeretail 5% backcash

Then use visible or any cheap plan you like

There is a one year limit on canceling lines if you added a free add-a-line (AAL) On Us promo.

In this case, these are paid lines where you are paying a line charge every month, so if doing BOGO and waiting past 90-days to cancel an old unrelated line, it shouldn't affect your credits for the two lines associated with these phones.
Thanks for the response, this should work out then.

S21 us a downgrade on all models, except the ultra which is a side grade. Lower resolution screen, plastic backs, no MST, no removable storage, etc.

Make sure you know what youre buying and not being baited in by a discount/trade in values.
Quote from coolchicagoguy :
I couldn't agree more. Folks should seriously look further into the details before jumping on S21 on the compromises made compared to previous generations and also why the starting price is $200 cheaper than S20.

https://www.cnet.com/news/galaxy-...per-price/ [cnet.com]

For those having questionable devices with minor blemishes, small screen damage etc, I strongly recommend trying to do this in-store for a quick evaluation.

I had a iPhone 7 with very minor crack in a corner of the screen that was accepted for full $800 trade in credit to purchase a 11 Pro. last year. I am sure this would have been rejected if I had shipped it.
It really depends what you prioritize in a phone. The issues you listed are not much of an issue for me, especially if the purchase price is lower from the outset.

Lower resolution screen? No issue for me, it is the same res as my S20 FE. Also, it's a small phone screen, not a 60" HDTV I am staring for hours, so not an issue for me.

Plastic backs? Fine by me. No glass to break, lighter weight.

no MST? I don't use it, so no issue for me.

no removable storage? That is the only change I do not like. I use the cloud to store photos anyway, but it is nice to have the microSD option. This was always a bugaboo for me with Apple, and now Samsung stupidly jumps on board too.

I understand your concerns, but for the cost of tax to upgrade from an old phone, this deal is too good for most people here to be hung up on a few changes.

This phone is absolute garbage. No SD slot, no headphone jack, no charger in the box. Shittier screen than the S10.

What was Samsung thinking when they released this?

The regular S21 is almost a downgrade from the S20 FE.

Agreed. As long as people understand the compromises they need to make and not blindly expect an improvement in all aspects just by getting the latest generation compared to their current ones.

In this case, it's not just "look before you leap". You really need to look a bit more closely. 🙂

Read up: "The Galaxy S21 is Samsung's MVP for 2021 – most value-driven phone"

"The Galaxy S21 is Samsung's new entry-level flagship phone that's fit for 2021. It has a large 6.2-inch AMOLED display, a new matte finish in four attractive colors, and the latest chipset from Qualcomm or Samsung.
While you'll hear that the camera hardware doesn't break new ground, and that the screen resolution is 'just' Full HD+ (but still at 120Hz), the S21 is a value-driven proposition for anyone who won't miss the microSD card slot or charger in the box."

Just buy the 256GB model. Only power users need more than that.

Good Luck contacting Samsung CS and getting a credit; however, I believe, credit would be like S20 FE, where after receiving the device, you open the Samsung Shop App and register it. The credit is already advertised on TM website...https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/samsung-phone-deals
