Amazon & Best Buy have sales on all of current gen of their Fire HD tablets on today, but that HSN deal looks like the best by far.
Fire HD 8 - $59.99 (Ad Supported)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TMJ1R3X/
Fire HD 8 Plus - $79.99 (Ad Supported)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0839NDRB2
Fire 10 - $94.99 (Ad Supported)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KD6YDKC
The versions without Ad-Support are also on sale.
The Fire 8 prices are just $5 higher than lowest ever per CCC. Fire 10 was $80 for Black Friday, so not as slick.
Still very good prices if you're in the market for a new Fire tablet and missed the holiday deals.

You can download it from XDA forums after a search on Google. Not sure if I can post the link in comments.

That's why it's $60, because they make the money long term.

Also have you installed nova launcher and then disabled the fire launcher because that helps alot
Also don't block updates ,my 2018 HD 8 updated and it runs much better now
And I finally got micro G to work after the update before last , I was using my HD 10 latest gen the most , mostly because I couldn't log into vanced with micro G on the HD 8 even after trying everything
Since the update before last the tablet is much faster and I can now log into micro G and the battery is much better too
And I find myself using the HD8 2018 more now ,also the 10 seems to be slower now
But I have temp root on it and have disabled updates
Which also makes the HD 10 not have the alexa smart home control menu that I now have on the HD 8
This plus the smaller size makes the HD 8 my favorite now where as before it was the HD 10
I would like to get the new one but I already have too many fire tablets
Plus I am hoping they come out With one with more features like a folio keyboard connector
I can't believe they left that out on the latest HD 8
adding a magnetic 3 pin folio connector like on an ipad would allow them to sell a one piece show mode dock and a folio keyboard cover
multiple docks even ,ones with speakers ,maybe one in the form factor of an echo show 8 and one in the form of the new rotating echo show too
there is not much else left to add to these things
I rest hope the next gen we see this
Thanks! Installed Nova Launcher and updated to the latest XDA Fire Toolbox to tweak the setup. Made it so much faster!
Have these things improved enough to be a stable e-reader?
1. Hardware (processor, memory, storage)
2. Android Version
The 2017 version is totally different than the 2019 version of the 7. The 2019 versions are a little slow compared to some smartphones for gaming, but web browsing and video work great. The 8 and 10 models are even better. More memory makes the difference.
I have 2, 16gb 2019 7's I paid $30 each for at Target last year. I bought a Fire 10 from Amazon in November for $80. It's great. I installed Google Play on all of them.

I actually jumped on the HD 10 for $45 + taxes after trade-in. Aside from the screen real estate boost (which is hugely appreciated for main use), the A73 cores and Mali-G72 make a world of difference. It can't hit 60fps throughout the UI like my Pixel 3 XL, but it's past the performance threshold. I'm not left waiting or wanting for power, like on the HD 8. Even for light browsing, I can't imagine the HD 8 Plus holding a candle to the HD 10. The only downside for me is the contrast ratio. About the same on the HD 8/10, whereas the HD 8 Plus has twice the contrast. Its black level gets down to 1/3 of the HD 8/10, whose screens don't always cut it for daytime viewing.
What's the point of microG? Why not use the toolbox on xda? I disabled most amazon services, then in dev options toggle off amazon services background access and change standby status for unimportant apps to RARE. 0.5x animation, and the tablet really flies for me. Very surprised to turn a turd and $45 into a speedy casual browser that can handle 1080p playback all the way through 8-bit HEVC and VP9.
