i know everyone loves them but there handle is way to thick it drives me away the size of them are rivaling most prosumers 18v so i guess thats how

Not sure why you got the not helpful votes. I have this and while it was my go to for tasks around the house I have started using my Ridgid subcompact line more often simply because they are more comfortable in the hand. I'm 6'2" 200 lbs and wear lg/xl in glove sizes so his comments about handle size are valid. I have also noticed that I prefer the forward/reverse switch type on my Ryobi and Ridgid. The 12v Fuel switch lays flat against the tool body and selwcting forward often requires u to lift your finger off the grip and press instead of a quick change using the middle of your forefinger. Not a deal breaker but something to consider.

Hmmm
My power tools are the standard Milwaukee-12(not fuel)
I do have 1 Ryobi an 18V-One+ 1/2" impact that I picked up recently

HD has Ryobi 18V One+ 1/2" Hammer Drill for 49 bucks(tool only) that I was thinking of picking up
it's 600 in./lbs and 1600rpm vs 1700 RPM, 350in.lbs for Milwaukee

Seems kinda of a no brainer for me to go with the Ryobi
Big deck project coming up this spring

Thoughts....

Hammer drill is for drilling in concrete. Imagine that it's a drill and then you tap really fast on the back of it with a hammer. The hammer action is in line with where the but is pointing. Impact driver is for inserting high torque fasteners. The impact action is in the direction of the spin, so it can spin the screw harder.

I'll echo many here: great drill, but not a particularly powerful "hammering". The heated jacket actually got me into the m12 system but I'm glad it did. I also bought the impact/hammer drill kit with a free ratchet, loving the set.

I'd stay with the same m12 battery system and get the fuel ( they are brushless ) impact driver for a deck project.

If you want to run the ryobi all day without waiting you will need multiple batteries and want multiple chargers

I say this as somebody who has and M18 system and wishes that I'd gone all in on either M12 or royobi1+ as it's a better for a homeowner

Not bad. The other day they had the M12 Fuel Impact + Drill + 4.0 + 2.0 + charger/bag for $115. I will say the Surge Impact > Impact by a large margin, much smoother and so so quiet. Also owning the Installation Driver I find it much smoother than the Drill, however I like to reserve that installation driver for indoor stuff whereas the drill is good for mixing paint and such.

That's a crazy good deal! I searched slick deals but didn't see it even expired. Was it on here?

It was a price mistake that lasted only a short time and was honored:

Yes, you can turn the hammer function off and use it as a regular drill.

Seems Milwaukee and Bosch are the last 2 big companies to make quality 12V tools... these smaller tools are perfect for the occasional do-it-yourselfer.

Thanks OP for posting a good deal on a 12V hammer drill. Will have to drop by Home Depot on the way home today.
I m isp installer, I use this thing and the m12 driver everyday to drill screws into concrete for my fiber equipment. Light and powerful, hook onto my tool belt when not in used.

Works well for professional too.

Really don't get the milwakee hype. I own several tools and I am simply underwhelmed by them. Dewalt performs significantly better and at a fraction of the price. That being said, Milwaukee does have some very cool and unique tools that no one else does.
