Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

So I am curious. Would I be able to use this on tmobile? From what I read in the pinned post it seems as if tmobile is no go. Can someone please confirm? Appreciate it!
I am using tmobile, and just made a call using the new xs max. In the store, they ask me what carrier, i said AT&T, just dont want them to have any excuse not to sell it to me, and apparently it works just fine Smilie

So what's the general consensus on reservations....I made one last night, is it worth driving a half hour to see if they actually have it? Does the reservation actually save it?
based on my experience walmart will reserve for you and not let units pass by until employee could override and cancel the reservation.

now next thing, if it is still in stock for reservation then there is a good chance that the employee is not interested in selling maybe they want to sign for contract, or reserving for themselves or something else.

but go ahead and give it a shot if you think it's worth it.

How do you reserve? I tried the link early in the thread (page 2 I think) and it just says out of stock. I have now tried making several stores "my store" and they still say out of stock. I'm just curious how you find a store that has them or if this is how you do it.'

Thanks!

My local walmart has at least 6 XS Max 256 GB and 8 XS (didn't check size). After spending an hour and getting the T-Roc manager involved, I ended up signing up for Verizon phone service...then the system wouldn't process the order because the deposit ($150) is greater than the price of phones...

Some of BS was told to me by the regional manager of T-Roc and I ended up leaving after the 90 min mark.

After yesterday's failed attempt with a reservation, I went on my lunch to the closest Walmart that showed no reservations available. Super sweet Walmart employee unlocked some drawers and looked, even though her system showed none in stock. She said more should come in on the next truck.....is this believable since it's a clearance item or was this a BS line? She seemed very sincere, but she also might just be clueless. It's close enough that I plan on checking in a day or two.

Yes, you're right. According to SICKW of the two 256GB Max I got one is flex policy and my wife is using it on T-Mobile and now it says it's locked to T-Mobile/Sprint, that sucks. T-Mobile will unlock it though, might have to wait for 40 days usage but I'm going to call them to see if they'll do it. The other one I got says it's fully unlocked. I just checked the two my sister-law got and one is flex and the other is unlocked, both are 64GB, weird how it depends on what you get. So I assume flex policy means whatever SIM you put in it first locks it to that carrier?
Correct. I am wondering if it has anything to do with how they're rung up in WARP as I bought my Maxes at 2 different stores, but both associates knew exactly what they were doing. The only way to check this I guess would be to check the IMEI of Max before purchasing to see what the sickw report says. Like you said, doesn't really matter in the long run except if you're reselling, but if you're a normal person and buying for yourself, family, etc then they can be unlocked according to the carriers policy.

For the most part, if you are in a major city, the reservations will show none available and at this point, most stores are sold out or the associates unwilling (or unable - no clue how to operate WARP) to sell them. For those with active reservations, call to find out if the associate knows how to operate WARP. I had an active reservation and went to pick-up - the associates claimed not selling contract phones only prepaid phones, and no idea how to operate WARP. The next day, I called the store to find someone who knew how to operate WARP. I found one - then asked for help with my reservations. Success.

Good luck.
