I have 805 fico and they decline my Application for Venture credit card and wasted 1 credit check. I won't be applying any Capital one credit card anytime soon.
Call the reconsideration line, could be an error on the app or a typo. Happened to me before
Keep in mind that you'll also get a hard pull from all 3 bureaus anytime you apply for a Capital One credit card.

i get offers for this card on email once a month but why would i bother when they treat you like that?

Outside of the bonus, why would anyone use this over a 2% card?
The bonus would definitely be the reason. It takes a long time for 2% to add up to $200 .... by then, I've opened a couple new cards with bonuses.

780 FICO, approved with a $7,500 limit. Hard pull. My other cards average 15-20k, so idk. Capital One seems stingy & overly cautious.
You think that's stingy?

My very first credit card was a Capital One card. I got it over 20 years ago with a $300 limit. They doubled my limit to $600 a few years later. The card automatically became a Quicksilver card a few years ago. The limit is still $600 today. I seldom use the card because it's just too easy to accidentally go over the limit.

My credit score is over 800, and I've never carried a balance or made a payment late on any credit card. Maybe they don't like me because I haven't paid them a dime in interest. I would think transaction fees would be worth something to them, though.

I've never requested a credit limit increase from Capital One or any bank. I don't think I should have to. If they want me to use the card, it should come automatically.

How is that possible? Who would keep a card with a $600 credit limit for 20 years? What are the limits on your other cards?

What would I gain by getting rid of the card? The conventional wisdom seems to be that closing credit card accounts can only hurt your credit score. I wouldn't close an account unless the bank institutes an annual fee or does something else pretty egregious. Heck, maybe they'll get around to raising my limit one day and making the card useful.

I think it's pretty funny. It shows the stupidity of banks that they would limit a 20-year cardholder to $600 who has excellent credit, doesn't carry a balance, and has never made payment late. The longer it goes on, the funnier it gets.

My card with the next lowest limit is $10K.

Unless you are chasing a 850 credit score or somewhere close to it. I do not think a 20 year old credit card with a $600 limit will make any difference on your credit score in a positive way.
Have you considered putting $500 or more on it every month for 6 months or more. Usually credit card companies will raise your credit line when you pay it off every month and get close to your credit line.

This card is easy/easier to get for people with bad credit. I have 2 of them. Is there a card that offers 2% back for people with bad credit? Genuinely curious

Putting $500 or more on this card every month for a while might be a fun experiment. It would cost me $2.50 to $3.00 a month in cash back verses using a 2% card, though. The card doesn't appear to have an over-limit fee, so I guess it's not a big deal if I accidentally try to charge too much to it. Yeah, I might try that just for fun. It's always interesting to get a little firsthand insight in to the algorithms that seem to run the show at banks.

I have a 770 score, just finished a refi right before applying for this card and got instant approval for 10k limit. I have 2 other CO cards as well (not sure if that is a factor)
I pay my balances in full every month on all of my cards so it seems to me that CO is looking at more than just your credit scores

I love the emails ebay sends to me claiming I could get $25 back with $250 spend

I know the spend is low but $25 is definitely not worth the pull

They def look at other factors. I get most people posting have good to great credit scores, but for us people in the dumps, it's nice when a company looks at factors like your current relationship with the company on top of credit score. TD doesn't seem to do that with me while CO does. Though I do see others saying if you have a secured card with CO, you're bucketed into crap oblivion.

Bad thinking and biz situation got a lot of debt going to collections a couple years ago. Still paying off so I'm hoping for a credit score solidly above 650 after 2021 is over.

CO are the only company to approve me for a normal credit card (two) 1.5 years since. One CO card went into collections maxed out during the above situation and is still there on my dashboard though I'm about done paying it off now.

They've already gave modest credit increases too. I use the hell out of the CCs, pay them off 2x a month and they are my 2nd most actively used checking account for 3-5 years now.

Interesting. Thanks for this. I have to boost my credit score. Now I'll be sure to check if companies will put me in some bucket for the foreseeable future if I do a secured card with them now.

I did this with a CO card as my only card when I got a better job in 2014. I almost exclusively used that 1.5% (I think?) CB quicksilver card from 2014 to 2016. It started at a $500 credit limit and annual fee and was $4500 by 2018. I might be off with my numbers a bit but I doubt any one will read or care for me to verify. I never called to see if they'd remove the annual fee. I did call once for a credit increase. Otherwise it was automatic or asking for an increase via app or site links.

The card started so small that it ended up lagging behind other cards when I applied for them at the end of that time period. But I wasn't going to get approved for those card and $5K+ limits before 2017,

I've owned this card for over 5 years, AMA.

Great card for those with less than stellar credit score. Pretty good customer service, had a couple instances of fraud and got the amount credited immediately and a new card overnighted. Online interface is one of the better ones that I've seen. Cashback rewards can be withdrawn at any time, no minimum amount required. 0% APR fo 15 months is a nice bonus as well.

I do not own a Quicksilver card like you. I have a Quicksilver card. If your credit line is $5000 or greater it say Visa Signature on the front of the card. It means nothing but there is additional coverage and benefits that would most likely be denied if you needed them. ]

The Quicksilver One is the secured credit card.

It is not the best branding to have a secured credit card with the same name as an unsecured credit card. It confuses the consumers. Capital One also has very high interest rates regardless of your credit score. It's not the card you want to carry a balance with.

So they have a pre-approval site https://www.capitalone.com/credit...reapprove/ [capitalone.com]

It is a soft credit check. I tried it and shows similar Quicksilver card but without welcome bonus and $39 fee as pre approved. I obviously want the bonus but just wondering if these 2 products even though almost similar have different approval criteria.
The Quicksilver with the annual fee is the "Quicksilver One" card. The approval criteria are different, as the Quicksilver One card is for people will less-than-stellar credit.

I have both versions of the card, so I am speaking from my own experience.

If you get the QuicksilverOne card, you should probably not expect it to grow along with your credit. The credit limit increases seem hard to get. If your account is in good standing, however, CapitalOne seems willing to waive the annual fee each year upon request (I started asking after the first year).

Also, FYI: CapitalOne allows individuals to have only 2 CapitalOne branded cards. (I have the two above, for example). You cannot even get a pre-approval if you have two accounts.

You are allowed to have other CapitalOne cards if they are issued through a third party, however--Walmart Store card, for example.
