This M6Q is basically a V Series with Quantum Dot Tech. IMO, you're better off dropping to a 65" and getting the M8Q for this same price, or getting the M7Q and save $70 (when signed-in to your BB acct).

Yeah...they must be some uneducated morons.
They don't have a clue what to look for....I mean what kind of an idiot would be satisfied with a TV just because the picture "looks great"?

I purchased the M8 version from Walmart since it has the most dimming zones. The 70" only comes in the 6 series which has nearly no (if any) dimming zones.

I didn't say they were morons, but the point stands that most people don't have a clue what they are looking for. If all you care about is how big of screen there is, then that is great, and filters on Best Buy exist to help you make your decision.

If you care about reference color, viewing angles, input lag, etc., then Rtings is a great resource. Again, if you just want to get "normal people's" impression, just read the reviews on any place that sells it. No need for a professional review website to turn into a service that exists many times over.

I can't stand my LG 7300. Got it because of its good reviews as a monitor, but can't hold a candle to Samsung (I've had 3 different ones as monitors).. Sitting in the garage.

BTW, non-OLED LG TVs are lower quality than mid-to-high end "no name brand" TVs.
That's the case for all name brands, not just LG. I think generally LG budget sets are pretty terrible compared to the other big brands budget sets, but Hisense and TCL blow all the big brands out of the water at an equal price point.

Hisense and TCL's $700 TVs are much better than LG/Samsung/etc's $700 TVs. Samsung/Sony/etc's $1800 TVs are better than what Hisense and TCL offer but they've really just eliminated any reason to go name brand in the budget tier.

The question is - is the tail wagging the dog? If rtings didn't publish the viewing angles - would you have cared? Something tells me you care about X,Y and Z factors because someone told you it's important. The same way a professional wine taster might tell you that the wine you like is crap because of some esoteric reason. Ultimately, what makes a good picture is subjective. Reviewers try and quantify that into things they can test - some better than others. IMHO rtings is slightly below average in that respect. CNET is quite good for TV reviews, as is HDTV test YouTube channel . David katzmaeir has a good eye and has been doing this for ages. Rtings is mostly good for feeling good about yourself with measurements.

We will agree to disagree. That said, there is a market for every TV or they wouldn't make it. If you are less discerning in your PQ or features, then buy a $500 80" BF special and save a bunch of money. Nothing wrong with that. But if you care about replicating the cinema experience or getting every advantage that you can in an FPS, then I'm thankful for review websites that cater to that crowd.

I got an absolute killer 75" 3D Samsung on clearance at Sears several years ago. This thing retailed for the same as a used car.

Guess what impressed all our guests over the years:
Industry leading Black levels?
The super fast 240Hz panel?
Micro-dimming contrast?
Active 3D and LED edge backlighting?

None of the above...it was the size. 42" - 50" were still the standard..... No one had a 75" back then and it blew people away.

I still use it as my main TV!
Can you even imagine? It's only 1080p and I like the picture better than every other 4k in the house. Well, that...and also I've left it on 24-7 for over 5 years and it hasn't missed a beat with zero burn in.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
How else do you explain the Plasma fan club or Vinyl lovers?

I am pretty discerning. I purchased one of the last plasma TVs made, and then went to OLED. I calibrate my screens. I've read rtings and many others. The point isn't the "sophisticated" vs less - the point is that rtings has a tendency to focus only on numbers and measurements of things - many of which are not actually relevant to most people. Furthermore, they ignore many highly relevant things. For instance, it's easy to start worrying about viewing angles or refresh rate when you see poor results on rtings, but in reality most people don't and shouldn't care about them. And they focus on contrast but don't account for the fact that the coating and bezel on the screen has as much or more to do with perceived contrast than anything else. These are things that people who review TVs with a focus on actual perceived image quality realize that rtings fail to understand.

I don't think that size is everything, but I do think that for replicating the "Cinema" experience - it's one of the biggest factors. Cinema projectors don't have very high contrast (500:1 or so), and they play at 30fps. Rtings would rate them as crap.

Good for you!

Anyway, for those who got the Vizio deal, does the 60Hz bother you at all, given the 70" spread and you can't possibly be sitting too far away from it if it is in your homes.

Pretty good reviews [rtings.com]. Note that despite the (possibly deceptive) name, this doesn't appear to be a quantum-dot (QLED [techradar.com]) TV.

Lol 70" isn't all that big. Thx recommends something like viewing distance 1.2-1.3x the screen size. That's ~7-8 foot viewing distance on this screen. Many people view from far further than that in their homes.
