Staples office chairs are on sale, with (2) $20 off $100 stacking coupons active. Coupon codes are 77898 and 47817

TP-9000 [staples.com] : 273.99 @ 19% off = 219.99 - $40 coupons = 179.99 (35% off)

Features:
Adjustable Arms
Mesh Back
Not bonded leather
reclining

An alternative chair I would recommend (if you want a higher back) is the tp-6400: [staples.com] $279 @ 14% off = 239.99 - $40 = $200 (29% off)

Additionally, if you are heavy (over 180 lbs) or have a long torso you might want to consider getting a butt cushion to make the seat more comfortable / have better ergonomics. I personally use the ComfiLife gel seat cushion [amazon.com] on amazon as it doesn't squish down like most memory foam, and is currently 20% off

Disclaimer: Yes, this chair isn't an Aeron. Yes, if you can afford a better chair and work from home, you should get a better one. Yes, you should first check and see if you can high a higher end used fart absorber office chair (steelseries, Herman Miller, etc) on craigslist, amazon warehouse, etc.

However if you are not lucky enough to find a cheap top end chair, or this is all you can budget for, this is a rock solid buy. I've tried a lot of chairs, and (IMHO) at this price point this is the best out there for under $200

I would also recommend against pretty much all the other office chairs at staples. Hyken's get a lot of complaints and people talking about returns, beautyrests and La-z-boys have fixed arms and bonded leather, etc.

Thank you for posting these coupon codes. I didn't purchase this chair, but I was able to use it on another big and tall chair. It was 349.99 at quill and 229.00 at staples down from 339.00. I ended up getting it for 189+tax. This was a big help.
Umm do you work for this company or something? kinda weird that you are pimping the same unknown chair / company on multiple threads...

For $200 you can get into actual commercial-grade furniture from major companies such as SitOnIt. This means sturdier construction, higher-quality foam, and more ergonomic features. SitOnIt sells chairs in bulk to companies such as Intel, Google, AirBnB, etc. This means that SitOnIt is not selling crap chairs.

These home-use chairs from the likes of "Tempur-Pedic" (actually Raynor Marketing/Comfort Seating of China) are pretty overpriced and underbuilt for what they are. You don't see Intel placing a bulk order for 5,000 TP chairs because these things are built-to-fail, especially when used in a commercial environment.

Another cool thing is that SitOnIt is an American company and hires American engineers and American college engineering students to design and engineer its chairs. These "Tempur-Pedic" chairs are nothing more than chairs stuffed in boxes and imported from China via ocean freight.

I have this chair, it has held up fine for about two years of heavy use and still going; it's worth mentioning I'm not a big or heavy person.. Also, I don't get too hot since the back is a mesh material and the seat, though dense, seems breathable enough.. I do recall it taking some time to get used to the seat cushion initially (it's a bit firm). Also, I bought 3rd party slip-over cushions for the arms from Amazon (I'd highly recommend doing this as the arms are a hard material).. Ultimately not the most comfortable chair, but looks nice in an office-type environment. It was a gift that I'm happy to own, but I don't think I'd drop ~$200 of my own money on it; can't complain about it's durability though.

I've learned never to skimp on these cheap chairs that last a few months to a year.

If you spend more than 2 hours a day in the chair, get one a full metal construction. $800 or more but will last you 10 years

Lots of people talking down on these, but in my experience the TP9000 is a lot better than most office store chairs. Obviously it won't compare to HM or the like, but that's a completely different price category.

I've had my TP8000 (similar model) for over 9 years and it's held up very well. I WFH and use it several hours each day. The padding hasn't deformed at all, unlike any other foam bottom chairs I've owned. I've had to replace the gas cylinder but that was done under the 10 year warranty with no shipping charges. I've recommended it to others and they've been happy with the chair.

The Office Depot WorkPro 9000 Quantum is another good one that often goes on sale, if you don't have a high budget and want to purchase new rather than used.

I am 6 ft 179 lbs, use this chair 8 hrs a day in front of three monitors. I hate the heavy expensive chairs. I have been using this for the last year and the chair is great. Can't beat a 10 year warranty. Got the hydraulic and new seat cushion for free through the warranty company
(my chair was bought back in 2017 as part of a bulk order from staples). I don't have any health issues where I need the extras.

I went to the store and sat in both a few months ago. I ended up purchasing the Dexley. IMO, It was by far the most comfortable of any chair in that price range.

I've been using this chair daily for 10 years and the only issue I've had was the mesh backing becoming loose to where my spine is resting against the plastic frame. This was easily corrected by putting a small pillow in-between the mesh and frame. Great chair and is still going strong.

EDIT: Actually I've been using the TP8000. They look to be of similar design though.

I had one of these chairs for a few years. It served its purpose, but it's longevity is going to depend heavily on your own usage.

The seat itself saw the most wear (the cushion is crushed). As a point of comparison it was used mostly by my wife (120 pounds) for 1-2 hours a day. I also used it (190 pounds) but the usage was negligible, maybe 1-2 hours a week. Our cocker spaniel liked to hop up on it too.

I point this out because I don't feel we are big people, and I don't feel we used the hell out of it, but it still showed signs of wear. I feel like many of these chairs are meant to hit a price point. Just go in with reasonable expectations. If you work from your desk 8 hours a day, don't expect this to last you a decade.

I don't think it's fair to compare it to some of the expensive ergo brands, but I do feel that the recommendations of searching for used products is probably wise. Around here, if I'm willing to go up to $300, I can find the Herman miller's and the steel cases within a reasonable time frame. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but based on their glowing praise, it's a better way to spend a few hundred bucks than buying one of these again, at least based on my experience with the chair.

I returned this chair after a week since I kept bottoming out in the chair. I would sink through the cushion and feel the hard base underneath which exacerbated my back problems. I am 5'11" and 195lbs for reference.

I was looking to replace my workpro 1000 (which has a mesh bottom with no real issues) with something a little higher end. The search continues.
