Plug in the usb cable to your windows 10 pc. It should chime that a device was connected. Windows likely wont have a usb driver. Under "Device Manager" in windows, There will be a device called USB to UART Bridge and will likely be open with an icon stating no driver is installed. Update the driver by pointing it to the unzipped driver folder and it should install. Next run the program,it should automatically read the firmware (mine was 1.33). Click open under download file and point it to the 1.35 bin file and click start download at the bottom.

I have an R3 and am getting the R7. I heard R7 may not be undetectable whereas R3 is. This matters if you live in VA or DC since radar detectors are "illegal" there. If a cop sees it, you will probably not get any slack on speeding. They will not confiscate it, however.
Get a Blendmount [blendmount.com] that fits your car's rear-view mirror and check out Vortex Radar's review [vortexradar.com] and settings set-up [vortexradar.com] page.

I prefer the hard-wire kit from Blendmount for the R3. I had mirror-taps in the past since I have a powered mirror. All you have to do is find the negative and positive wire positions (not sure if you can google your car model and find it, or if you will have to just try different combinations and see if it turns on the radar detector since you probably can't fit a voltage meter in the tiny holes with the wires already going in) The mirror-tap wires are fragile. Hard-wire will require you to plug into a switched or aka accessory fuse (as opposed to constant) in either your driver side or passenger side fuse box).
Sounds like blanket 3rd party car mod warning in case of accident, but I have never heard of something like this before.

Instant on radar is a radar that can automatically turn itself on and off. This is really only affective against radar detectors if you are alone on the road. Otherwise any good detector will detect the trap.
