It's sort of the opposite of what you'd expect--play the built in games offline forever, but if you add your own you have to connect to the mothership every few days or they are disabled.
so if atgames shuts down or turns off the options of adding your own games. Let's say they blame some leagel issue's then the unit is pretty useless?

This is a STEAL. Buy now and find out about the free 6000 games you can add later.

All the addon games and the core games play without login. It's only the fancy "coinopsx" user interface that requires login. 100% of the games can be played from the regular interface without Internet.

Can anyone specify the processor that this this has in it - can it do ok with arcade games from around 2005?

From researching there's an updated build version 4.5 available.

How well does the wireless work? Is there any latency? Can you use wired hook up?
It works pretty well, though I'll admit I use it more for classic arcade than I do for something where the latency might be a bit more impactful. You can use it hardwired, which does improve the responsiveness just a bit.

It's a fantastic unit - they used good quality controls, not the best but I don't think I could mass produce one with top quality controls at this price. My only knock would be the pinball aspect, which is pretty poor, but that's more on their software offering than anything else.

This is a good question - they do require you to log in to their service for the add-on components to work (even though they're free). If they were to disappear tomorrow, this would basically be rendered a wireless/wired arcade controller, which at this price point is still a good bargain. I paid $150 knowing the same was likely and still went in.

I've had it for a few months. Kinda disappointed in it. Unless you mod it, it really isn't worth it. Most of the games aren't worth playing. The wifi is a pain to set up. The optional monthly service is really not worth it because you pay $15-$20 bucks a month for a larger selection of games that you mostly have never heard of. On a positive note the controller build however is very good quality and responsive.

Nice ETA Prime reviewed it and says it's awesome. His channel is great so I totally trust what he says on things.
