A couple things some of the experts here may know:

Sounds like the trackball from atgames isn't very good. Can it be upgraded easily?

Anyone have experience with this and the similar Atari fight stick which seems like the best comparable option? ( https://www.amazon.com/Fightstick...08MFG7J1K/ [amazon.com] )
That looks really good even without the games just the controller $115 but it's connected to PC right, where as AtGames is stand alone?

At this price get two, and play 4 player arcade, via usb..... But frens.....
Haven't been able to get a clear answer on how easy this is. Got the Ultimate can setup and if it's as simple as that to use 2 of these Gamer versions with a tv for 4 player, going to really expand the basement.

Does it just "work"?

Granted it is about 50% off regular price but ratings on Amazon are not great (3.5 out of 5 stars on 12 ratings)...and unfortunately only 2 written reviews there.

The trackball is really a great addition, though I wish one of these makers would put TWO joysticks on each player for certain games. (and a good spinner as well).

Alternates like a Pandora box seems like a better deal with normally about 3000 games ready to go and online downloadable additions with really good attract-mode type integration...but at about twice the price.

For me I think if your going to have to import most games then go with something cheaper like a PS1 classic or Super Retrocade and build up from there... at least those are heavily supported with mods, online gameplay, downloadable content, etc. More work to setup but cheaper... or (a good, reputable) Pandora for more money and almost no work.

For super cheap, use an old laptop and install MAME... just find some decent USB controllers and you are done... not very retro looking, but if it is about playing the games then you are goid.

If you want full arcade look the Arcade1Up and mod it with a Raspberry Pi (decide on number of players when picking the console). Forportability, buy make a Retropie handheld, and for a full arcade multiplayer, multi game(300 games out of the box) experience out of the box then look at the AtGames Legends Arcade: https://www.walmart.com/ip/AtGame.../444840800

Best handheld retro arcade in a mini version of the classic arcade shape is the Data East 34-in-1 arcade. Easy hackable to support most MAME games WITHOUT and soldering/disassembly... Again, only one player, and a bit pricey at about $70 at target (though they have 10% of coupon now) but really the best and easiest to mod for addition games while keeping a miniversion of that stand up arcade format (4.25 inch screen). One thing is the stand up arcade format for mini games is not for everyone as it is not nearly as comfortable in the hand as a nintendo-esque hardware style... but for some the look of the arcade is more important and this one gives you that with a relatively tiny footprint. (Plus it works on USB or batteries and switches seemlessly.)

The trackball is fine. I recommend reinforcing it with the Sheldon's shims kit

Mine was built probably 2 years ago. I added about 10k ROMs to it with a MicroSD. I don't think I spent over $100. You also don't have to use a Raspberry Pi, as there are other boards you can use such as the ASUS Tinker Board, so there's always the option to shop around. Sometimes you can also find good deals on the CanaKits, which run around $50-100. Sure, these are kinda neat with the retro controls, but IMO, I like having something with all the additional ROMs. There are times when I just picked a random game that I never heard of and tried it, especially ones that were originally Japanese releases. The other thing with having less games is the novelty of playing them can wear off fast, then you want to move on to something else. I remember trying games like Altered Beast again many years after I originally played it, and they are in a lot of ways more difficulty to play now because of the older derpy controls controlled to the modern controls that are more fluid.
You can add all the additional roms to this. So, it sounds like this is about equal to what you have, same price, same ability to add games.

I have 3 of these atgames products (two of these and one of the big cabinets). This is an incredible deal in my opinion. I got another one just now to give as a gift.

Coinops can be a little irritating as its changed iterations a number of times since i've had my units but still very awesome. The atgames features can be irritating as well but it hasnt stopped me from owning 4 of these.

Atari one is totally standalone too, and you can add a Pi internally if you want to. Not sure why it doesn't get the same love as atgames stuff. It's been posted as a deal here on Amazon a couple times and then gets deleted. (Hmmm...)

I should add that these are not perfect products. It seems like QA is an issue but they are still fun to have.

Going to remove the 4th button as I want it configured for arcade games.
8 button is just silly.

Can be more easily modded with a USB stick and CoinOPS X.
Can't this be used as a usb external controler? If so then it's super easy to just hook it to a pi, though I'd go with a cheap android tv box.

Great thing to spend my Biden Bucks on! Used my Trump Check $600 in the fall for the Xbox Series X. Thanks government handouts!
They're giving you PART of what they routinely TAKE away....

Setting up massive inflation, higher energy costs, etc. Etc.

Do you have links or videos? I'd build one if it was around this price.
