This is an absolute steal at 99 bucks, i was very happy picking one up at sams at 150. Anyone who thinks they can build even close to this is just wrong. It may take you a little pain to get your thumb drive all sorted and set just the way you want it, but it is worth it. Stick with it.

For those looking to keep saving money but want a stand. I built a nice little fold up stand with PVC pipe that once painted black and red to match console looked quite good and cost me 20 bucks or so.

Any chance you send share more details. I am going to make a pvc pipe screen holder for outdoor movies and I can try to make this for mine.

My 2 year old Sandisk Ultra 64gb is bricked. It always get unrecognized, and cannot reformat it.
Can anyone recommend a reliable USB flash drive for our purpose?

I am still awaiting mine (coming today via Amazon), but reading the different Reddit forums, it seems the consensus is that the SanDisk ones are the most reliable/solid... and also keep in mind (not sure but I read), that the device does support usb 3.0, so that might speed things up a bit (at least loading and processing the sometimes large amounts of files for sure...).

so FWIW, hope that helps. Again, I don't have mine yet, just been doing the research..

Based on my research, the Samsung Fit Plus is the one to beat. It has very good performance and the perfect form factor (the thing is tiny).

Sure, all you need is a bucket of T joints and 20 ft of pipe. You will also need some pvc cement. I made mine triangular because I was not quite sure how folks would want to stand and what would be comfortable for 2 players. A pipe cutter is also a big help but not required.

You could design it a lot of ways, but using 2 T connectors connected on the long end as a hinge allows you to not need a lot of different angle and 4 way connectors. It also is was allows it to fold down. So one bucket of 20 Ts should get it done for you.

For stability and rigidity you will want a few sets of cross beams, rather than just making a pipe run the full hight you are looking for. It will also look terrible raw unless you buy furniture grad pvc. So just hit it with some primer, paint and a clear coat. You may want to give it a little sand to give the paint some grip.

It is light weight (Which was the goal) so standing in the bar at the bottom is good if someone is a real energetic player. You could also drop a sandbag or dumbell. So just a bit different than someone building a permanent thing.

Thanks for the replys...samsung looks good, so I may be delayed a few days getting all this setup if I want to do it right. Ill consider Sandisk or Samsung.
But If I get impatient, I may just go to my local BB store & take a chance on a PNY 64gb for $8.99 or a tiny $18.99 PNY128gb usb 3.1 linked above.

Already arrived today, spent some time this weekend prepping a 128GB USB with Sauce. Didn't plan to purchase another arcade device outside of physical cabinets, but for the price and features - way too good to pass on once modified. Should be fun to travel with, family will enjoy it at the campsite.

Dont use a 64GB, It will run out of space at the very end of all your hard work when AddonX tool is building all the games. Ask me how i know Smilie

I switched to a 256 and all went well, although a 128 would be fine too!

In for one and awaiting delivery, also awaiting delivery of a 128gb Sandisk. Can anyone point me to a video or link for adding stuff other than MAME? Thanks.

Mine was just delivered an hour or so ago. Setup was pretty simple. Took a bit of time to get the bluetooth connected, but it's been solid since. Did the firmware upgrade right away. Ran the controller test and confirmed all buttons and the trackball work. I did notice that one of the buttons (1P RT) is a bit sticky, almost like there is a minor defect in it. It works fine, but might get annoying. Will probably reach out to the company to try and get a replacement part. Outside of that, no issues.

I already had my USB stick prepped with the 1653 game arcade pack. Popped in it after the firmware upgrade and installed CoinOpsX. It didn't work right afterwards and gave me an error about a missing coinops file. Tried it a few times, but eventually just rebooted. After the reboot, it started working fine. Loaded up CoinOpsX and played a few games. So far, so good. No noticeable BT lag and everything I tried works well. I did notice that the screen seems to be overstretched (i.e. I'm missing a bit on the top/bottom/left/right, but just inside CoinOpsX, so I probably need to adjust the settings to get that looking better.

So outside of one slightly sticky button, which is easily replaceable, mine is working perfectly. Definitely happy with my purchase.

64GB is more than sufficient if you just want the Arcade bundle (1653 titles) and a few other things. What is probably causing you and others problems is that the various youtube tutorials are erroneously telling people to carve out 16GB for the first partition, which is way more than you could ever need. It just uses that to store a handful of things like the CoinOpsX launcher (which is like 40kb I read) and maybe some very small game files if you download them from the official store. At most it may use a few tens of MBs.

People have made this first (flash x) partition as small as 1GB without issue. Personally, I went with 4GB and used the other 60GB for the roms and other files. While you raised a valid point about how the addonx tool adds to this space (mine took about about 1GB in its folder), even with all of that said I still am only using about 50GB of that 60GB second partition.

As I don't care about NES/SNES/etc. roms (I have other emulators for that and just want the arcade pack), I have no problem with a 64GB stick. Now if you want to load it up with every saUCE package, that's a different story and you will need more space. But outside of that, 64GB should be fine for most people as long as they keep the first partition small.

That 16GB is exactly what used to much space for the rest to properly load. Thanks for the tip about making it smaller!

Np. Another tip, which again the youtubers seem to ignore (though I believe this feature was only added to the tool somewhat recently) is that you can run the AddonX build tool on a folder on your hard drive instead of the USB stick. In my case, I started building it out the day before my USB stick arrived from Amazon, so when I got it yesterday I just copy/pasted all the files over to it and was done. No need to do it a second time or run it on the USB drive itself. It's generally going to be a lot quicker to read/write all the data on an SSD/NVME hard drive vs a USB drive, so it will be quicker to do it that way.
