There's apparently one that will switch from 4 to 8 way with a button you have to install with them. I'd seen it mentioned in at least one of the YT tutorials. Dunno how much they are.
MagStick Plus 4 to 8 way switchable joysticks from the top. $57.50 each shipped from Amazon [amazon.com]

Not sure if it's worth it for this $99 set

Pretty much this. The square restrictor plate was about $7 off Amazon.

Managed to order it on Friday. Does it arrive inside a nondescript box, or is it just delivered as is?

I wanted to surprise the kids and have it set up with all the mods first.

The usb male to male from the controller top to the core (puck device) is so you can play the games wired so less latency and also charges your controller top at the same time.
My guess is it's stays on better and less wear and tear on the controller. If they got type c this wouldn't be a problem 😁

The box is plain but does mention Atgames and Legends Gamer Pro in text. No pictures

I asked a few days ago here but never got an answer:

Can anyone explain to me why they used THAT usb a male port on the CONSOLE?

You just never really see usb a male to use a male like that you know? (and has obviously caused confusion given the ~158 posts with people plugging in their usb sticks to it....Smilie)...
Not sure if you got a reply...this is how you charge the Control Top. There is an included USB A to USB A cable in the box...

Oh yeah, I got that... I just don't know why they used this type of connection USB A to USB A, when USB A- USB B would have been so much better, a lot easier to find longer cables etc....

Someone made the point they thought it might be more sturdy in the setup, but I use a ton of controllers with the other, and never had a problem.... you know?

is there any reason why everyone is suggesting 4.5 on coinopsx, instead of the latest v8? NVM that's coinops not coinopsx

making some incremental notes for others. assuming you want to use the coinopsx route.
1. buy a 128gb usb thumb drive, usb 3.1 can be had from amazon ~$18
2. charge the control top using usb cable and supplied AC to USB adapter
3. wireless over bt seems to cause issue for many people, YMMV, or just use usb cable
4. you need to buy a usb hub to use the wired option, since only 1 usb port exists on the media streamer.

5. you can buy cabinet off ebay $$$
6. you can change out controller stick movement, they are available on amazon. $$$

Others reported problems if they had a space in the SSID name of the router. Others reported they hardwired or used hotspot on phone to connect to internet, apply firmware, and then their wifi worked.

Here is a question for those who might know.

OK so trying to add the CoinopsX saUCEd SNES Edition which contains the cox/uce folder but there is no playlist included inside the cox folder.

There are 709 games included and to list them all gonna be a while.

Is there a program to run and make a game list on the fly??

It's is bit of a pain, but I managed to get the coin ops 4.5 working. It's very well done and seriously makes the system a heck of a lot more fun.

I LOVE the game Crazy Climber and played it in the arcades ages ago. Felt incredible to play it with two arcade joysticks. And here I thought the Switch had nailed the best control system after all these years.

Still have hundreds of games to play/go through.

My old Xi arcade with a BigBox frontend for Mame can be buggy and error out. Same with my 128gb retro pie image. So far smooth sailing with this setup. Smilie

I think eventually I will try to hook up my retro pie build to it and give it a whirl.
