Dunno if this will help or not... I had to factory reset the Puck, then pair devices, *then* upgrade firmware (and pair again). Also tried a different cable. Then it worked for me.
thanks, ill see if there any other suggestions, if not I'll try the reset

Just a reminder to folks. The manufacturer warranty on these is 30 days and their official policy is to tell you to return it to the store if you have an issue.

I was a fan, until their new firmware bricked the puck. Did the update and it just never cycled back on and won't respond to a hard reset. At 99 bucks worth a roll of the dice, but I would not recommend a firmware update if the system is working for you. These were on clearance for a reason and the warranty is 30 days for a reason.

I may try and get the sticks up an running on a pi or on my PS classic, but regretting not going the microcenter route for a few bucks more.
my works excellent from the get go. 480GB SSD and no issues whatsoever. Good luck pal with your other options

I just updated my firmware yesterday as well and noticed that CoinOpsX is not loading large games now reliably. (IE NeoGeo CPS2).

It will work sometimes but usually when large games try to load, the screen turns black, the main game list shows briefly, black again and then CoinOpsX simply gives up and returns to the main menu.

If I had to guess, the recent firmware takes more system memory and CoinOpsX struggles to find the ram it needs when loading large games. Things worked much better before the update at least.

I find it quicker to simply load the games via the BYOG menu and forgo CoinOpsX altogether. If you sort your game rom sets in separate folders in the UCE folder on your USB stick (Make sure there are no spaces in the folder names), loading from the BYOG menu is not too bad and games load much quicker. As it stands, CoinOpsX is just too slow after the recent firmware update and I find the BYOG option much more efficient.

Overall I'm finding it difficult to enjoy this product. I like the idea, but the implication of its set goals and intended purpose are executed poorly and the system simply doesn't have the power to run things smoothly IMO. (Delay in controls, poor emulation, and CoinOpsX performance being terrible ECT.)

I'm seriously considering returning it but I want to try local BYOG streaming functionality [atgames.net] before I do. In theory, I can install CoinOps on my PC and stream it via the ATgames puck. This will eliminate all of the slow emulation and loading issues as my PC is more than powerful enough to run everything smoothly. Now I just need to find the time to do this...

Mine finally came on Friday, Bluetooth is a no go. It's says it's paired but no movement on the deck. Works fine usb. Coinops works but if I try and fly though games it will freeze lock up and reboot. For what it is, I'll probably keep it. This is what I did on the Bluetooth, if anyone has any suggestions, I would love to here them. Turn on the core, turn on the deck 2 blinking blue lights. Press the button on the core, select player one and hold for a few seconds. Core says paired and top blue light on deck goes solid, repeat for player 2, says paired and have 2 solid blue lights, yet no movement from the controls
I had the same BT issue from getgo, P1 pairs fine then P2 pairing screws up the whole control deck. Do both blue lights turn off after it says successful pairing? After a few days I just cycled through pairing both P1 & P2 and it resolved itself, working perfectly now (knock on wood).

How did you factory reset? Doing it from the settings menu doesn't actually do a full reset, and for me trying it via the instructions on the website (holding P1 and menu buttons on controller while pushing reset button on puck) didn't work...
I'm not at my computer at the moment... Google it or search this thread... Pay soecial attention to the part where you have to connect the USB cable directly from the controller case to the Puck... I remember it was tricky to use the paper clip while messing with the power cable, etc.

Edit: detailed instructions for performing a factory reset on the puck:

Yeah, I've seen those instructions before and tried them... Didn't work unfortunately (just the firmware upgrade screen shows up and fails). I guess it's because the puck isn't reading the control top even when plugged in. It really must be a bad unit huh? ☹️

Re-did my whole setup again. Added multiple alphabetized folders to find games quicker using BYOG. The menus/playlists remain the same for coinopsX with all consoles

I wouldnt worry about bluetooth if direct USB works good....BUT
I've come to the revelation that this controller has the very best usage with a PC running MAME or rasberry pi.....
(So bluetooth and/or direct usb connection with ATgames interface running coinops may not be ready for showtime for the most serious gamers ).

After having family over to play some fighting beatem up games: marvel vs capcom, sf2 turbo, etc an extremely tiny bit of input lag was noticed esp when fast response button mashing is required. So enough lag to hurt performance in a competitive match.
Even on the classic Centipede, the laser firing was not as good and responsive as on pc Mame32 emulator. The slight lag is noticeable in a serious shootem up.
So the software emulator or hardware inside of the round puck is not good enough for a serious game...So it's best to use this controller with minimal lag via direct usb connection to mame PC. Even the image settings like scanlines of games looks better directly on PC mame vs the Atgames/coinops puck....I will probably look into trying to run these 1650+ Coinops games on a PC.
---------------------------
So my primary purpose was to use it on a pc, but I had high hopes for the Atgame's puck, having more flexible ways to use this controller, due to the passionate fans here installing coinopsx sauce etc....Maybe eventually more people will notice if they haven't already.---unless there is something wrong with mine. (I'm on the version 5.25 software, so didn't update to 5.26...maybe no need if I plan to use it on PC half the time.)

update: Even though slight lag is there, the puck is still fun to use with many of the games. Only the games requiring maddening button mashing requires better PC emulation + direct usb connection. Also a faster USB flash drive may mask/minimize some of the slightest lag felt. (it seemed my Samsung fit plus 128gb performed a tiny bit faster than Sandisk ultra 64gb). So everyone's experience may vary (YMMV) depending on specific game and usb drive they own.

I honestly can't tell if there's a lag, or is it just me. It feels weird playing most of the games. Wired or wireless is the same.

EDIT: funny, after I posted, the post directly above mine is saying the same. I guess its not just me then. Yes, it was frustrating playing SF type games, I thought it was because of the controller or my skill was rusty. But playing tetris like puzzler also felt annoying due to lag. It is very tiny, but its there. Frown

I have a spare rasberry pi, do you think it'll be better? isn't atgame's puck itself a flavor of proprietary rasberry pi?

I just tried Millipede and it does great with the LG controller via USB cable. I'll try Coinops Next series and also Retrobat game packs

I honestly don't know about the raspberry pi being better or if it's really a version of it on the puck , but definitely using this controller on a PC is the best way to go.
It's possible that maybe the specific USB stick/USB hub 3.0 could vary with better results in each person's setup, depending on the brand and performance of the USB/ssd drive. .---just in case others are perfectly happy with their coinopx Atgames puck experience.
I'm using a USB 3.0 hub with Samsung 64gb ultra, so I know it isn't the very fastest flash drive.(so these might also be contributing to input lag a little bit.}

Thanks Fubarz for mentioning the different PC coinops frontends I can try out in the future. The world of "coinops next" is endless with even more arcade/console games on a good dedicated gaming PC with large ssd/hdd. --that should provide the definitive arcade experience versus with the small puck.
-----
It was nice they threw in this Atgames puck with their ecosystem for more flexibility @ $99, in case you don't have a dedicated gaming PC,
but I really only purchased this for the controller, for a cabinet type experience on our PC.Smilie

I could never justify spending any amount of money or time on modding this or buying more games as it is just unacceptable to use.
--So people like us have to think of this Legends Gamer Pro (as just a controller). You have to provide your own emulator games running on your own PC. And it should play as good as the real arcades in regards to lag. The puck is just for people who don't want to use a PC with emulators and configuring the controller with games for a long time., those who refuse to spend a lot tinkering with PC emulators. Unfortunately With the puck, Games can only be enjoyed for a few minutes until we realize the input lag cannot be tolerated; so a return is understandable for you.

--But At a discount price, It's comparable to different fighting sticks on the market: Microcenter Atari fight stick, Mayflash Arcade Stick F500, Qanba Drone, Razor Atrox, etc...
(Except this is a 2 player control, pinball buttons, +trackball, where as the others leave something out--saving you $50-150 on average. Though the other sticks may have a little better build Sanwa parts).

--Unfortunately some time and leg up work on our own is always required to make our own arcade like cabinet authentic gaming experience..a hobby to dabble in and enjoy the finished product.

I know this is an old expired thread now... But I wanted to share my experience with this product. I jumped all over this deal!
Got it and hooked it up without issue and was playing.

Big problem tho... it is just not responsive enough to be enjoyable.

I had several different people try it out, all without telling them I had an issue with it. I let them play and give me feedback. All of them were excited to play it and each person tried a couple different games and while all initially were having fun for a few minutes, all of them, in short order, became frustrated with the general lack of responsiveness in the controller. For example playing games like burgertime and the generic packman game were atrocious. You could never get the guy to turn when you wanted him to, forget about trying to make 2 quick turns in succession. Needless to say getting all the toppings or eating all the pellets was impossible without being able to quickly maneuver multiple turns in succession. And for sample size of people who I tested with - it was my wife and I, both my kids (13 and 11), both of our moms (they were both Mrs Pacman pros themselves when they were younger - literally both of them won Mrs Pacman tournaments at their local arcades in their day) and several of our friends also tried it out.

I really wanted this to be awesome. But in the end the overall lag in response times from the controller caused more frustration than enjoyment. This product has been returned.

I could never justify spending any amount of money or time on modding this or buying more games as it is just unacceptable to use.
