If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

I'm new to TM and have the new Magenta Max plan. What exactly do I have to do to get the free line?
Call them, chat with them through the app, Facebook, go to a store.

When adding a free line, is there a chance that any of the other lines/ perks get touched? I love my Bill now and everything is working well. I got my kickback on all my lines etc. is there a chance adding a line will touch any of that?

You should check one of the posts above to verify your max lines. I have a simple choice plan and have 8 lines. 4 paid 4 free.
Search didn't yield any results. Could you please link me to the post? Thanks

Nothing should happen. The bill won't change if your plan is tax inclusive (TM One, Magenta, etc).

I haven't checked lately, but I think changing plans would lose the 15% discount on my account. So I am going to stick with what I have for now. 4 phones 2 tablets for about $120 after taxes. The free tablet lines are pretty much the only reason I stick with Tmobile since service is pretty bad outside of cities in my area. Thanks for the advice though!
Yes you will lose the corporate or government discount if you switch plan: 10SCFM4 is one of the last remaining grandfathered plans with corporate discount. I have a 15% corporate discount with 10 lines. My 15% discount gives me around $40 discount. It only costs me $17.00 (after 15% discount) to add a line so I rather do that than switch plans and lose $40 discount just to get a free line

if I'm already on the 'old' Magenta plan, and they're pushing me to the "new" Magenta plan, should I agree? It sounds like they made it better for the same price, but I'm not sure I trust it...

As the line is free, do I need to pay for any fees?

I am currently on a large family unlimited plan (12 lines) for which each line is $21.36. I have two kids that are "cell phone age" so I am wondering if I should break away from this large family plan and starting my own plan with the hopes of paying for 2 lines and eventually getting 2 for free. Think it would be worth it?

Call them. They can see it on their system. Port in and add a line to get it free.

Google voice, but I haven't ported it yet. You do that after you get the phone and SIM card.

Yup, very frustrating that all these free line promos end up being a better deal than Military or 55+, everything considered. This time the free line is even possible on business accounts, but not Military or 55+.
Military deserves a discount but why would a 55+ deserve one over other age demographics? I'd say young adults with kids need money more than older ppl, or maybe college students, or even certain income brackets ..

You could have started your own plan as a new customer by yesterday to get 2 paid + 1 free line. Then add another free line today.
