Was slightly cheaper at $95 several times late last year (here and here last October for example), in addition to being $100 as early as June of last year (here). WD's current price on this drive is $129.99 [westerndigital.com]. Currently this drive is $124.99 on Amazon [amazon.com].

I grabbed this after spending the last few months with deal alert on looking for something to use with my Xbox. Happy this was in stock, last couple deals were brick seek Walmart deals that were not in stock in my area.

While that's all great history (thanks!): I just gotta add, if you're going to wait for $5 more off on this deal, you might reconsider the need for the drive altogether.

I know the slickdeals motto is "buy first - think later" but that difference so small. When I see stuff like that, if I find myself waiting for the perfect deal, I know it's not something I actually need and tell myself not to buy it.

I'm simply looking for an external drive from which to store and play my PS4 games--is there any legit reason performance-wise I should choose this deal over the Seagate Backup Plus 5 TB portable HDD that Costco currently has on sale for $90?

So what's the difference between a "gaming" hard drive and some other cheap one such as an elements or other wd?

Edgy styling and a 25% markup.

In a brief search of reviews across the internet (before jumping in myself) the consensus from the PC hardware sites was that this drive was generally at the top of available options for this type and size of drive.
