This is entirely inaccurate.
When you have collected full TV series sets, this adds up fast. 1 hour per episode, 24 episodes per year, 10 years, high quality blu-ray. That's a single TV show. So why not just stream them? Because quite a few shows are no longer available for streaming. Not a problem anymore. But that's me. Smilie

Same, Synology was running low and can't wait for that pre-pandemic pricing to return.

Are these good to use with an Nvidia Shield as storage for a Plex server?

I too use these for Plex, performance has been comparable to any other HDD in the market. Haven't had any failures, have 11 14TB drives running for 1+ year so far (24/7).

I don't use Nvidia Shield, have a regular Roku TCL TV. These HDDs have never been a bottleneck even for BD-REMUX 4k HDR movies streaming on the TV.

Just what I wanted to hear, thanks for the info! Do they sleep when the device sleeps (Shield in my case) or are they constantly on? And WOW 11 14TB drives?!?! 😳😂

I use these drives w/ UNRAID and they have configurable power saving settings individually, I have them set to 12hrs if unused, since I share the content w/ friends and family. I don't know whats the default spin down time is though.
