The 14tb was $190 at Bestbuy during the pandemic. Just saying
That was during a Black Friday event too. So good pricing now.

What do people do with these massive hdds? Most of the movies are streamed online now, all I can think of is to use it as a backup drive for photos.
Torrents?
Blu ray 4k rips are sometimes 100 gigs. I mean if I knew the dude who said he had 14 of these filled with stuff I'd definitely spend 3 grand just to copy everything. You have a little raid server and something like a fios connection or gigabit you can share all the stuff you have with people. He obviously has a massive collection

As much as I hate ordering from Newegg, I need the drives now and the price is too good to pass up.

Elements does NOT have the drive encryption, correct? Meaning you could fill this up with content, shuck it, and all of your content would show up if you used it as an internal drive?

WD uses proprietary boards on these HDDs so people can't shuck them and use them in a desktop.

In other words boycott this anti-consumer bullshit.
Do you know this by first hand experience? I have a few of these running, a few shucked and they didn't even need the electrical pin mod or anything in my system, they just plugged in and worked.
