These rubber straps come in a compacted state and must be stretched before first use. This nearly doubles their length and gives them more elasticity.

I expect some of those reviewers did not do this.

N95 respirators with exhalation valves should not be used when sterile conditions are needed.

They're not meant to be taken on and off multiple times on multiple days.... of course eventually that material is going to fail. They weren't designed for that. They are designed to be put on and stay on for a job then to be disposed at the end of the day. The people complaining they fail work in the office and take it off their face every 15 seconds and mouth breath at the water cooler. Trust me I watch it all day long.

Horrible reviews, say straps break almost immediately. Caveat emptor.

I've been using these and the ones w/ valves for over a decade and never had the issues with the straps snapping or breaking on new ones.

I can confirm. Those straps break very quickly. I've never been able to get more 10-12 times of wearing out of any of them. (P. S. I didnt realize prestretching would prevent the straps from breaking, but that does seem to make sense. I'll give that a try on the few remaining filters that are still intact. Wish I had known this a year ago.)

The straps are durable but not to the extent that they can be used for weeks. You initially have to stretch them out and then they adjust for a normal head size. These masks work great and you can tell there is a tight seal.

As has been said, respirators with valves are a bad idea if you're trying to prevent the spread of disease. However, if you're masking for other tasks (woodworking, home improvement, etc) here are some valved 3M respirators: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Particu...00K0C3P64/. Not a great price, but lower than it's been in a long time according to CCC.

Isn't 8210 the small size? Might be too tight for larger heads. Even with a beard, the fit is so tight on me I can't breathe with the 8210 anymore - COPD.

And for those wearing valved masks for COVID, your supposed to wear a mask over that one.

I had these laying around in the garage before the pandemic started. I got a solid 4 months use out of my first one. Though I really only went out for grocery shopping trips once a week.

My last purchases of these were on October 16, 2020 and November 10, 2020 at Staples online for $14.09 per 20 and the Cool Flow version were $22.09 per 10.

So good luck finding the valve ones at this price.

10-12 uses out of each mask is probably near the limit of effectiveness for reuse. If I used one for yard and shop work 12 times, it would be pretty gross by the time the straps break.
