There are millions of counterfeit 3m masks in circulation right now. With Amazons track record for counterfeit items, it's highly likely these are fake.

Fake or real, the main determining factor in a mask's efficacy is the seal. Make sure it seals well. Even if these are fake, they're probably way better than a regular surgical mask for most applications.

Pre-covid,
I regularly purchased 3M N95 pack of 20 for $15.
I would wait for current stock to overflow, before stockpile.

Anyone know what masks are best for secondhand smoke? I have n95s, and they help but throat still gets sore.

(Dealing with a situation with someone medicating all day in a nonsmoking building in unit under me. Just need to find a temp solution til things get handled.)

Household Cleanser Odor Respirator. Works for using cleaning supplies (can't smell bleach through it). My guess would be they'd work well for smoke.


Side note. Smoke can get through a N95. Sawdust gets through a surgical mask. This also means the virus can as well.

Smoke is vapor and the 8210s only filter out particles like dust and virus.
You may try the 6000 or 7000 series half facepiece respirator from 3M and pair it with the 6006 gas/vapor cartridges. Those cartridges will filter out ammonia, methylamine, formaldehyde, etc. I'm not sure how effective are they for filtering out secondhand smoke as 3M has never claimed these can filter out cigarette smoke but I can't smell the cigarette smoke from my roommates and I can't even sense the coffee smell when I'm wearing these.

Thanks. Looks like the image on the Amazon page has the lot code listed in the counterfeit document "A1C078" haha
Could just be a default image used by Amazon so you might get something different in the mail but i guess Amazon would refund if it's fake.
