This is true 100%

I had a back up tracfone, loaded for a years service that I kept in my car. Didn't use it for months and when I actually needed it, guess what it was deactivated. I called CS and they told me if the phone isn't being used on a semi regular basis they deactivate it. I told them this was AN EMERGEMCY PHONE THAT I PREPAID FOR A YEARS SERVICE and their reply was "sorry sir, that's our policy."

Not true, these are preloaded sims meant for BYOP phones (says so in eBay description) & activating on locked Verizon TF often does not work due to IMEI (GSM does work) - it may be possible with intervention from support but there are hundreds of previous posts from earlier sales that had to get refunds for Verizon locked TF because they wouldn't activate.
I've been buying these since 5/19 when TF first started selling them (at $60) & have purchased lots for friends & family. Read the past threads, plenty of into.
BTW, with TF there's a lot of YMMV when you need help - answers really depend on the rep that you get & it often takes several to get the answer you want since many aren't trained very well.
off topic but need your help....i have a 2nd line (which i don't really use) that is like 50 days old right now. the enrollment rewards of 7,000 points for that line is still pending. fine print says it will be available between 30 to 60 days after activation. if these points still remain on pending status after the 60th day, will i lose those 7,000 points if i don't fund this line after expires?

Exactly what I said - once activated these sims will work but you need another phone to activate first (due to IMEI) then sim can be used in a locked TF. I've used sims that way in the past as well but be aware some users are now reporting they recently got messages from TF to put sims back in original phone - not sure what TF will do if you keep using in different phone.
There are 2 options to activate and i have done both ways a number of times. I have bought tracfones that come with 1 year service, and yes, you need to activate new sim that came with phone in that NEW phone, then you can take that sim card out and put it in any locked TF if carrier is compatible! i bought my lg fiesta 2 , and rebel 3, and lg k31's that way. What you say is correct.

BuT, this thread is not tied to any smartphone! It's just a 1 year plan and is not tied to any tracfone! So when you add service it uses a different menu in tracfone, and when you enter the code, it ties it to phone number that you can choose. But once it is actived you can remove sim , and put it in any locked TF (provided right carrier).

Good question, knowing TF I bet it has to be an active funded account or you lose it. They may have something in the fine print somewhere. These points are iffy with some having had points balance disappear or change. I already had several lines & only activated 2 new ones for points (had a couple of the $20 sims from last sale) & haven't used any points yet.
I need to merge a few lines 😊

yeah to be safe, since i want to get the 7k points for this line, i think i'll add another month using my available rewards. will only cost me 1k points to get another month anyways. just the basic plan.

I have 2 email accounts, one has 16,000 points & one has 7500 - neither one will be usable for another month (couldn't resist getting a new SE & LG Reflect for cheap, sure didn't need them). I'll never use up all my minutes.

Be careful buying these. A year ago I received a sim card that didn't come with any credit, it was hell fighting with TF to get it corrected.

Exactly what I also warned people about, many TF reps don't even know there's a Tracfone store on eBay & will deny you actually bought it from TF or that it's supposed to have a preloaded plan. For some this is a deal & works perfectly but out of the 10+ sims I've bought over 2 years at least 4+ required dealing with eBay or TF support to get a refund.

How cheap were you able to pick up the SE and Reflect. I have the older model SE iphone model I picked up a little over a year ago when they had the 1 year of apple video service included with purchase, I bought it for I think 69 dollars. How do you like the newer SE model?
also have first SE but it won't be getting many more updates so when I had a chance to get new SE Straight Talk/Tracfone (supposedly a refurb) from VIP outlet for $140 I got it. Didn't have a mark on it & Apple warranty is good till Nov. Just got it last week & haven't used it much but it's nice having a small, slim phone to put in my pocket compared to the large screen Reflect K51 (which I like for it's lightness) & my Moto G Power (seems heavy). Reflect came from them too for $65 after coupons, good deal for a 6.5 phone (even if LG is now out of business - probably won't get any future updates even though they said they would).
Lost count of all the phones around my house, most of the TF were almost free though since they were bundles. Smilie

Do TF plans come with hotspot? I bought two of these and one plan with phone from HSN, and activated all three sims. But the handset doesn't turn on hotspot, says plan doesn't include hotspot. I just spoke to a csr and she says no tf. Plan comes with hotspot. But comments here suggested they did and hotspot was the reason I got this. Can someone please chime in What's going on?

after I posted my last comment I didn't want to appear too forward in asking your the price of stuff ... about how much your SE and Reflect was, so I removed the post out of respect to you. Being a Slick Dealer, it is fun to see the good deals other SDers get, but some might take offense. So thanks for answering the question and have fun with your new toys. The Moto G Power I have been thinking about buying for the last 6 months, but I was worried it would be too heavy, thanks for your view on the weight. I like the LG k31 because it is super light after other phones . I didn't know LG went out of business (smart phone division) until you wrote that, wow. I liked LG smartphones. Had more success with LG than Moto stuff.

It was nice chatting with you today. Enjoy the rest of the day. I drink too much coffee and noticed I'm a little hyper. I'll relax and play some Battlefield 4 and hopefully relax (my plan at least) as I mindlessly kill the enemy. Smilie

My understanding has been that TF doesn't allow hotspot, but that's always subject to change. I think there's something on their website under terms.
BTW, if you bought a Tracfone bundle it needs to be used with the original sim for 12 months of service to get phone unlocked (if that matters to you).

I've always liked LG too (I also have several of the old Fiesta 2's & a Stylo 3+), they just announced Monday they were officially getting out of the phone business.
The TF Moto G Power was an Amazon deal for $55 (!) last Fall & sold out very quickly - may have been a price mistake. I'm (obviously) a phone junkie & keep updating when I find good deals Smilie.

Thank you. But, I am flabbergasted. I read many comments on tf, redspor, mint etc threads, and suggested among others, tf had FULL data hotspot. So, I wasted on third phone line and handset, I have no use for. Anyway, I made sure my last sim activated was one with the handset. So, i should be good to go when it comes to unlocking in a year.

Here's a suggestion - contact TF through Chat (chat reps are more knowledgeable than phone reps) & see if they will merge two of your lines, you can choose which number you want to keep. They've done it for me in the past when one of my phones broke.
