Featured Comments

Good deal - common sale price for this item, hit the FP a few months ago at this price. Previous comments do note that it is noticeably faster than standard HDDs for gaming storage.

Other common FAQs:

Shuckable?

No, it's soldered

Can I use this with my *INSERT NEXT GEN CONSOLE HERE*?

Yes

Can I run games off of it?

Yes, but not your next-gen games; only previous-gen games, but even at that, it's always recommended to copy the game to the device's internal storage before playing

Is it really worth the extra money?

Up to you, but it has been noted that it is actually a bit faster with game transfers.

Is it shuckable?

This is a good deal. You can store your PS4 and PS5 games on here. You can play PS4 games off of it but not PS5 games.
But... Can it be shucked?

Honestly I've been tempted to get one of these for games that I play on my main console upstairs and the system I have in the basement. Much easier than unplugging and rerouting cables for my 12 TB hard drive.

Can I use this to do regular backup, like WD My Passport Ultra? I guess my question is, is there an advantage to use this as a regular non-gaming backup device

It's fast, that's the advantage if you care about that

I just pulled the trigger after seeing this deal for the Nth time. I have a 2tb firecuda HDD connected to my XSX and I'm constantly uninstalling older games so I can fit more onto it.

I'm in for one. Seems like a good deal. The last external I bought was a 2TB my passport ultra for around $100-120.

A lot of storage for the money! I recommend getting a firecuda hybrid drive or an SSD unless for gaming unless you actually need 5tb. The load time savings is worth the premium!

Damn, just picked this up about a month ago for $125 to connect to me PS5. This thing is FAST. I copied my PS4 games that were on my PS5 to this drive and it was fast

This is a good deal for that if you care about storage more than anything. Personally I think getting a 1TB with a bridge adapter for the same price is far better since the speeds are much faster.

Look up Digital Foundry's recent video on YouTube comparing external HDD and SSD on PS5 and it makes a huge difference with load times.
