At this point, it's too expensive for what it is nowadays.
Milwaukee has come out with better lights that are more versatile and cheaper.
You can buy two of these for $30 less and they are not a single situation tool.

Even without the free battery deal that was hard to get, I still think this is better for most people. You even get an additional 50 lumens combined.

Also 8 hours on high at 700 lumens each vs the underhood light at 4 hours on high.

This is a classic example of Milwaukee not shifting their lighting prices to account for age.
They even still sell this light at 100 lumens for $50.

Just one of many examples.
Agreed. $150 for an underhood light, is just TOOOO much. It may be "discounted" but that doesnt make it a good deal.

Have had one for about 18 months. Use it every time I work under the hood. Always keep a battery on the charger so I can hot swap it (was doing an engine swap on the Chevy).
Highly recommend.

You left the hood on during an engine swap?

I wondered how long it would take Milwaukee to get around to making an m12-powered lightsaber.

I see it's Milwaukee and I have a lot of M12 tools but for an LED at $200 MSRP is just crazy expensive. Even at discounted $150 it's not worth it. There are many many other cheaper alternative of bringing light underhood. You'd probably never ever need it because if you're smart, you'll work on a well lit place or maybe work on it during day time.

I agree, my solution is not for everybody. But the majority of vehicles have stamped steel hoods.
You might try DIYing a solution using broad hooks with a steel plate that these could attach to. Depending on your hood, most have crossbracing on the underside that has enough room for either thin hooks or even thin gauge plate steel bent to slide between both structures.

Most hoods are aluminum. Not steel.

Ahh, isn't this a better deal since it comes with an XC battery? https://1sourcetool.com/products/...eGEALw_wcB [1sourcetool.com]
I personally wouldn't trust a tool company who gives an address that is a private home in a residential neighborhood, but maybe that's just me. 6 Forest Ct., Passaic, NJ 07055

done multiple engine swaps in my garage, never had a need to remove the hood...
i also just use drop lights and hook em on to whatever, while this light looks cool, it's crazy expensive for what it is and how limited it is.

i would argue that isn't true at all...

every other car/suv/truck/van? no. perhaps paper-thin steel, but certainly not aluminum.

While I agree that most cars on the road have steel hoods, my 2016 Honda Odyssey has an aluminum one.

Again, maybe 10 years ago, but today, most cars are aluminum hoods. Please research. Every car in our house has aluminum hoods. 17 Nissan Rogue, 2013 Nissan Altima, 2020 Toyota Highlander, and other cars I've had in the past. It's to save weight.
