If you want to game, it's better to spend the extra $50 on the $600 HP that Walmart has.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pav.../943933730

They are a Ryzen 3500 (6-core) with a GTS 1650 Super. A 1650 Super is roughly twice the graphical performance of a 5700G.

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...5260vs4058

It looks like Walmart's website sells out of these very quickly and only 3rd party sellers are listed there. But if you can find them at your local store they are sold for $599.

Can someone recommend between this deal (Pavilion TP01-2066) Ryzen 7 5700G and A Dell Optiplex 7060 (8th gen i7 "T" CPU) for the purposes of a home VM host workhorse (not gaming). The Optiplex supposedly can go up to 64GB of RAM, but I don't know if the Ryzen is significantly advantageous or not, especially over a "T" CPU.

Both are comparably priced. Leaning towards this one (Ryzen) as it may have more CPU horsepower, but ram upgradability (for a VM host) will also be a limiting factor.

Any comments?

I would definitely go with this one particularly for VMs - the Ryzens do way better on multithreading

What is compatible DIMM for it?
I got one of these. I tried 2x8gb 3200 sticks of GSKILL from another computer (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB). They kind of worked but not at 3200. The speed dropped to 2133 and there is no way to adjust that (enable xmp) in bios. Still, they helped a LOT with graphics performance. I ran Unigine Heaven benchmark on defaults and got 24 fps on stock 1 dimm at 3200, and that increased to 33.5fps on 2 sticks at 2133.
I am thinking that GSKILL requires 1.35v voltage and this mobo only runs at 1.2v. So, I ordered another stick of 1.2v 16GB 3200 TEAMGROUP TED416G3200C2201 to see if that will work at 3200. Fingers crossed. I suspect that would bump up graphics even higher.

I think you'll be fine. Most people go all OCD about having matching DIMMs but don't think it matters all that much these days with modern motherboards (think that was a carryover from like 10 years or so ago). Most motherboards will just default to the higher latency and or lower speed of the lesser stick of the two.

Edit: You didn't see a sticker or model # of some sort on the single OEM RAM stick? Usually you can google that part # and figure out exactly what it is.

USB Type C can probably not be used for Type C to HDMI for a second monitor.
I connected a Type C hub with monitors attached but got no video through it.
Looks like you can only use the two video ports at the back: vga and hdmi.

The actual memory stick inside is Samsung M378A2G43AB3-CWE. I decided to try my luck with a brand new stick rather than a second-hand one.

Can a bigger hard drive be added along with the ssd that it already has?
Here is what I could see inside FWIW. It looks like there are 2 free sata power connectors, 2 free sata data ports on the mobo, and even 1 sata data cable connected to mobo and ready to be plugged in into a hard drive. So, it looks ready for at least one hdd/ssd, possibly 2ssds with a bracket.

Two M.2 slots are occupied with nvme drive and (likely) wireless card. I did not see any open slots.

If you are wondering whether this pc is enough for advanced web browsing and facebook posting, I got 22088 multicore cpumark and 3387 single thread cpumark. This is with stock equipment, single channel memory.

I'm gonna return it, having no dual monitor support is dumb and since the power supply is only 180, there is no reason to have a big case like this as you can't hook up a video card to it, it's mostly just empty inside, they should've shrunk the case at least. The hdd is a m.2, so they could've made this close to the size of a NUC.

I was going to use it as a plex server, so a big case like this is unnecessary next to the TV. I might go for the Mac mini M1 as a Plex server, I'm hearing alot of good things about the new mini.

I am using it with 2 monitors, through hdmi and vga. I guess if you don't have a vga monitor it would not work.

Ya I know but I wanted both HDMI or through the USBC dock like my laptops but the USBC doesn't even output video. Thats why it's turning me off, they gimped it too much even though it has a fast processor.
