What fw, if you don't mind me asking? I've never gotten AIM to work, perhaps because I'm always starting with the "latest and greatest" as opposed to the most stable.
Most stable for me has been:

Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.385_20633

No issues here with the latest Asus 3.0.0.4.386.43129 on both routers in AIMesh. Both are powered by an UPS though, to reduce issues caused by the power line.

Someone in San Antonio asked me for this router since I'm willing to give it out at no charge. I have 2, one is flashed with Merlin and 1 is unboxes, but I couldn't find your PM since I'm traveling and using my laptop.

I thought I could read PM anywhere from either my desk or laptop but it's not the case.
Anyway, I should be back to SA today. Please PM me to make arrangement.

Just wanted to let people know that if this router is updated to the latest T-Mobile firmware, it locks the bootloader and you can no longer revert to any ASUS stock or Merlin firmware.

This happened to me. I have flashed 5 of these over to Merlin, but believe me if this router is allowed to update to a certain T-Mobile firmware it is impossible to flash it to stock. I use two of these for a 5,000 sqft house + outside barn. Because I have no wired backhaul, I have one of these setup as my main router and another all the way out in the barn setup as a wireless repeater. These actually work great as wireless repeaters after flashing to Merlin and this would probably be the only reason I would buy one, as I think they are much better than the repeaters you can buy for the same price.

Here is a link to a google doc with detailed instructions and links to revert these routers to stock:

I think you can it just gives you a very brief window to get into rescue mode and you have to hold down additional buttons

I can get into rescue mode but it won't load any other firmware successfully.

I run a two mesh setup with merlin firmware, great routers and was the dirt cheap way back then to get a mesh network. With that said Wifi 6 lives up to most of the hype, I was skeptical of Wifi6 b/c it is still 5 ghz wireless tech until I got a Xfi gateway from Xfinity. That router's coverage and speed is almost as good as my two mesh setup, so after the promo period ends for the Xfi gateway, I will retire the TM-AC1900 and get a decent Wifi 6 router.

So IMO this is old technology and not worth the price, save your money to get a modern router.

I have 2 of these units flashed to Merlin firmware. Yet to do the mesh setup. Thought of buying tplink ax5700 (on sale for $289) from Costco for coverage outside the house so that video door bell/security camera can get better signal. Today, I have placed the router close to the ceiling instead close to the floor. Now, I get max speed every where in my house and better speed outside.

Been using this router close to 5 years and no issues so far.

Have had 2 of these for many years now but they were always buggy. Bought the Asus RT-AX3000 from amazon warehouse "used" for $100 and was shocked at how much better it was. Newer faster processor makes a big difference. Also wanted AX wifi 6 for Oculus Quest 2 PCVR. Well worth the extra cost over the tmobile/asus ac1900. Amazon warehouse "used good condition" (ships and sold by amazon) can be bought without worry, and if you don't like it for any reason, they will pay to ship it back and give a full refund. Original firmware was buggy, and probably reason for prior purchaser to return. Zero issues in the 6 months I've had it. Spend the extra and get AX.

Not very tecky but have been using this for more than 5 years. In my apt. 3 rooms. Different devices connected. Not a single crash or reset. Has been freaking incredible stable

So I guess I'd like your opinion pr direction on what to buy. I have two tm ac1900 routers flashed to asus merlin. I know these are mid range dual core processors in this. Using aimesh for one in basement and one in living room with 2.4 and 5ghz ssids broadcasting. Moving to a larger house and was going to either add a third for the 2nd floor or a higher end $200-$400 router that was quad core that would be head end Main router. Just don't know if it's worth it. I have 100/5mbps connection and all my devices that can be hardwired are but still a good amount of wifi devices. I was looking at asus ax110000 Rog router.

This is old but I did the unifi dream machine and a unifi ap and I can't imagine better
