If you can afford $3k for a 3D model, then get it. The biggest benefit for a 3D model compared to these 2D ones is that the rollers don't just move left and right and up and down, they also move in and out. Therefore, if you've ever experienced sitting in a massage chair and felt the rollers are too rough or hard on your back, then those are the 2D ones. 3D ones can adjust and won't feel like they are constantly "poking" you. And actually feel "good"
As far as $4k+ for the 4D ones. Yes they're even better but I think the benefit there with variation of speed of the rollers and heated rollers "think hot stone massage", is not as significant of a benefit for the money than how much the 3D vs 2D is.
At the end of the day, they say that any massage is better than no massage at all, so if your budget is <$1000 then those $600-$800 fixed roller off brand ones are what you want, but I'd really recommend spending a little more for at least a S-Track or L-Track like this one. If you can afford $1000-$2000 range then a 2D one like this 8500 with L-track from Osaka is great. And if you are willing to spend $3k or more than get a 3D. Also, I don't really see a different between L-track and SL-track, seems like they're both the same.

Not this massage chair specifically but I've had problems a few times now where the chair is fine mechanically, but cosmetically it looks bad because of the fake leather peeling. cant find seating cover replacements.
Any solutions around this?

Pretty much any fake leather, or leather that isn't full grain (real) leather is going to crack and chip and fall apart over time. Full grain leather is usually only found on pretty high end (expensive) furniture. Maybe some fully manmade materials might hold up better, I don't know as much about those... but bonded leather, and stuff like that is pretty much trash. Guaranteed to fall apart within a couple years at best I would say.
I tried the infinity evolution chair recently and fell in love with it. but at close to 7K it was way out of my budget.

I think that it's really a personal decision based on which features are important to you. And of course your budget. If you won't use half the features, then it's pointless to spend that kind of $ on one. But yeah some are pretty cool and expensive.
None!

I'm 6'4, 190 and it fits pretty well. Only real complaint is the head airbag is annoying and sucks, and they should have just left it off. The rest of the chair is amazing.

You can use just airbags, or combo with the rollers, or any of the pre-programmed settings. You can adjust how deep the rollers dig, or how much pressure the air bags use. It's pretty slick. The head airbag sucks though.
I usually use the Pain Relief setting, or all airbags.
