I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

(Rumour) PSA, Chase maybe revamping this card to provide these benefits:

$50 Annual Hotel Credit

5X Points - Travel purchases booked through the Chase Travel portal.

3X Points - Dining/Streaming Services/Online Grocery (excluding: Walmart and Target and wholesale clubs)

2X Points - Travel

1X Points - Everything else

10% Anniversary point bonus. Keep your card open for 12 months and Chase will give you a 10% bonus on your points after 2-3 week of renewing.

I just applied in branch this morning. However, now I realized my spouse downgraded his CSP card to the non-fee Sapphire card earlier this year and I am still an authorized user for that Sapphire card (which I never used). Will this make me ineligible for my bonus? If so, should I cancel my new card and reapply for it after my spouse removes me from his card? Thanks!

There's a good Wiki to read here:

If you already are a Chase customer holding another Chase card, do you have to unlock your now frozen credit report when applying for the Chase Preferred Card. Or, even if your credit report is frozen, Chase will anyway be able to acess that report since you are already their existing customer?

Basically, I would like to know whether I should unlock my credit report before appplying for this card, or there won't be a need for it. Thank you.

They only care if you got the bonus before within the last 48 months. Being an authorized user is fine, as long as it doesn't put you over 5/24.

Even if you're an existing customer, they'll still do a hard pull on your credit to check again.

Unfortunately, that doesn't answer my question! It is not about whether a hard pull is involved or not. Chase alreday has access to my credit report which it gets via Credit Journey. The question is do I need to unfreeze my credit report for applying for the card.

Chase is rumored to be increasing the fee and enhancing the benefit on the Chase Preferred Card. Per Doctor of Credit, this will happen on August 15. For this reason, is it more likely that the 100K points offer (with waived fee at store) will be withdrawn on July 15 or August 14?

Just for an update to all for those worried about if you'll actually be getting the better offer in branch.
  • My wife applied in branch in the middle of June and got expedited shipping for the card.
  • We spent the 4k immediately the day we got the card (Had several big expenses waiting)
  • Our Ultimate Rewards portal shows we've hit the spend needed to get 80k points. Our progress bar shows 80k.
  • However, as of July 1 it shows that we'll be getting 104k+ points on the next statement. This means that we will be getting the 80k + 20k (bonus) + 4k+ (spend)
  • We haven't used the card on groceries yet so I can't confirm this one. But others have confirmed it's working.
  • Lastly, I don't see an annual fee charge.
The best deal is a spouse refeerral. She gets 20K and the applicant gets 100K. No fee waiver or $50 credit but 120K (100K + 20K) points> 100K +waived fee + 50 grocery credit

Does anyone know if Chase would offer the "in-branch" incentives over the phone if I don't live near a branch office?

well back when i use to travel a lot for work, that $4k would of been easily spent in 1month. now, even if i was eligible to sign up (i'm not), i don't even know if i can hit $4k in 3 month...

Actually, yes, That answered your question. A new card = A hard credit inquiry. Therefore you will need to unfreeze your credit reports. Chase having access to your credit reports has nothing to do with you applying for a new card.
