I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Crypto is more lucrative and easier to buy and sell with fewer fees.
I just responded to another tread for crypto. Please, don't suggest spending for very risky non-cash alternatives. After China, India, now Pakistan is going to outlaw exchanges into cash. Western politicians are talking about attaching huge climate credit burden to crypto assets - once first step of getting you locked into something that you cannot exchange back into cash is done. I, for example, would not hang myself. It is possible that you not just going to loose money, but be financially scalped big time.
This has nothing to do with the "future" or "viability" of the such technology - it's all money, power and politics. Very risky.
Prepay anything possible like gas, power, cell phone, cable/internet & streaming services. You can also pay for your friends/family and get reimbursed from them. These are no cost to you. Another option is to buy merchant gift cards/gas cards/Costco Cash cards, or simply fund your Amazon accounts. Unlike AMEX, Chase doesn't care much about your spend on GCs to meet the minimum spend. Just be careful of those prepaid Visa/MC/AMEX that are usually associated with a fee. You can also prepay your tax to IRS, use Plastiq to pay your rent or mortgage, or Venmo/Paypal to pay your friend and then have your friend pays you back the cash, all with a fee from 2 to 3 %. I do not recommend buying crypto coz most of the time there is a fee for purchase and the crypto purchase is usually coded as cash advance. I could be wrong though.

I want recommendation for this too. For two cards (me and my wife), we need to spend $8000 in 3 months.
We will prepay the utilities but I dont feel comfortable paying more than $2000 to utilities since $2000 will have us covered for a year.
What are the other things you can purchase/prepay beyond utilities that counts towards spend?
I heard that credit card companies have a way of detecting gift card purchases so they dont qualify. Any way to get around this?
I currently have a 5+ year old CSP and not within 5/24. Is the right play for me to downgrade my CSP to anything else (I currently hold the freedom card that doesn't have rotating quarterly bonuses so maybe I can downgrade to the one that does?), then open a new CSP? Will that work for me?
People actually asking how they can spend 4k in 3 months???? That's like 1300 a month. Are you telling me you don't spend 1300 in expenses after housing? Food, utilities, cell phone, transportation etc??

Lose or loose?
And your gold/silver recommendation is better? Anyone who buys crypto knows the risks. Just like anyone who buys precious metals.
I noticed some mention a meter that keeps track of your progress towards $4000 spent.. where can I find this.. does it not show up until later? I just got a approved but don't have my card yet. the card account does show up on my dashboard though.
A quick question: if I close my CSR couple days ago, can I apply now or do I have to wait? I heard from the customer service guy that I need to wait for 30 days before I can apply the new CSP. Any experience? TIA.
Account closure would take a longer time than a product change/downgrade to reflect on Chase system. It may take as many as 30 days while a product change may take 5 to 7 days.

Can confirm. Went to a branch in Atlanta, opened card. 100,000 points and first year annual fee waived. This was on the confirmation screen when I finished applying with the asst branch manager. The manager was surprised to see the $100 annual fee waiver, must've updated overnight as has been described in previous posts. No $50 grocery credit was mentioned or shown on the screen with the rest of the incentives. Took about 20 minutes in and out, though the bank was pretty empty when I arrived. I am very satisfied with havering been able to save the $100 annual fee by walking into a branch.
edit: applied in branch at Monday July 19 at 9:15 AM EST
Went into a branch at 4:40pm on Friday because when I spoke to the person responsible for signing people up, he told me that the 100,000 would end on the 17th. He called in to find this out when we were there. Now it is extended.
I've read online credit cards are cracking down manufactured spending.
Will chase flag something like preparing electric for $1000?
What about school taxes?
Both options have fees, but electric fee would be much lower, but if chase will have issues with it I'd rather pay some of the taxes. Chase Sapphire is the most useless card I have in my wallet, if it wasn't for the bonus, I'd never get it.
Also, is anyone doing referrals? I'd love to take advantage of it, but for some reason nobody wants this card, even when I offer 50%
Some people just want master card instead of visa
Prepaying bills for normal businesses (utilities/insurance/etc.) is fine. Taxes are fine too. Business gift cards (like Costco/Amazon) are fine. Visa gift cards are more questionable.
Some of the other "cash-like transactions" mentioned above are also more questionable, like crypto, venmo to a friend, etc. Chase specifically called those out as not counting when they updated their policies in April this year: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ch...k-funding/
If you're going to roll the dice on cash transactions at least set your cash advance limit to 100 so the transaction will decline if it's coded as a cash advance (and the amount you're trying is >100) instead of a purchase. It seems kind of random on what will count and also changes over time as they adjust what they actually enforce.

Why is your Chase Sapphire your most useless card? We just got our first Chase card on Friday? Can you explain?
Probably because the points on spending on the card is kind of low. It's just 2x dining/travel, 1x other (supposed to get better on August 15). There's other cards that can earn higher points for various categories and the redeem options aren't super if don't travel at all. So then those types of people will just hit the spend, get the 100k UR and then dump the card in a year. Even the free cards like Freedom are 3x dining now.
7/1: Downgraded my no annual fee Chase Sapphire card to a (second) Chase Freedom Flex.
7/19: Went to a local NY branch and was approved for CSP. The rep's screen showed the 100K bonus and waived annual fee, no grocery credit.
A big thanks to everyone providing valuable information on this thread!
