I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

So I am about to get my 100,000 points. I do not wish to renew the cost of the card in 9 months. I have a Chase freedom card and a Chase Amazon card as well. My questions are as follows:
How do I maximize points? If I take straight cash I get $900 or $1,000 correct?
If I want to use it for airlines and or hotels how do I do so and maximize?
Lastly if I don't use the points or I don't use all the points and it becomes the end of the year what do I do to cancel the card and keep the points if possible?
Thank you so much!!!
1) If you don't want the card, you can cancel or downgrade to a chase freedom card. Your points will transfer if you downgrade but if you cancel, it won't. Sapphire preferred offers 1.25 bonus redemption for travel.
2) cash value of the points is worth 1 cents per point. so 100,000 points would be $1000 if you want it in cash.
3) maximizing the value of your points depends... if you want to travel, you need to compare the rates. sometimes they let you use your points for grocery shopping and give you an additional bonus as well. Traveling is the trickiest because sometimes the point redemption rate will cost you more than if you were to just book it using Google flights to compare the rates... you'll have to do your own comparisons.
quick question. My wife approved for the card last month and added me as the authorization user. Can I apply one on my own and also receive the bonus after meeting the spending limit ? Thanks in advance
Depends. If you have a ton of points, no, I would stick with Reserve because their redemption value for travel is .25x higher. Plus, if you travel often, the $300 in travel credit and the lounges/priority pass is probably worth the card cost in-itself. When I traveled international, the lounges were exceptional. If you don't travel often, the Reserve card isn't worth getting.
Being an AU of another CSP does not disqualify you from getting one for your own, but you'll still be under the radar of 5/24 rule.
Edit: A friendly reminder to you. It'd be better if you apply via your wife's referral link and she will get another 200K bonus points once you're approved.
Great information! I applied, received and charged $4k already (on the Saphire card) and have received all of my points. I already have a Freedom card. Is there another version of the Freedom card or another card I can downgrade to?
Thanks!

Maximize for "cash"-
You'd want to use them as statement credits-- as general statement credit it's $1000. If using pay-your-self back (for grocery, dining, home improvement, etc purchases) it'd be $1250.

Depends.
You can get 1.25 cents per point booking this stuff through the chase travel portal.
You can potentially get more (or less) by transfering points to specific airline or hotel programs.
The only hotel one ever worth using is Hyatt- where you can often get 2-2.5 cents per point booking Hyatt rooms compared to the cash rate.
THAT said- Hyatts aren't cheap cash rates- so if you are otherwise fine staying at a Holiday Inn Express you probably want to skip the Hyatt thing even if you get good "value" for the points that way.
On airlines it's much more YMMV. USUALLY transferring can beat the 1.25c rate even on coach fares.... and it's pretty easy to REALLY beat 1.25c on business or first class.... but you'd need to do some research on where you want to go, and what airlines program is the best deal to get you there.

Don't cancel. Downgrade to a free card.
And you can always (even now) freely transfer UR points between any cards you have that use them- like your existing Freedom.
In fact one of the big values to the chase system is getting 5x on spend on the Freedom, then moving those points to a better chase card where you can get more than 1 cent per point in value for them.
As an example if you get 5x UR for spend, then move to a sapphire card, then transfer to an airline and book a business class airline ticket at 5 cents a point, you have effectively gotten the cash equivalent of 25% back on your spend.

You can have more than 1 freedom card (this gives you the opportunity to get a second $1500 per quarter cap at 5x).
There's also the freedom unlimited which gives 1.5x on everything- but that's only worth it if you still have a premium card where you can get more than 1 cent a point for the points in combination.
BTW you need to wait until you have had the card 1 full year before you can downgrade it.

Great info here. Here's a question you may be able to help answer: I already have the Amex Gold as my primary card (great for dining rewards), but since it has a yearly fee I have been hesitant to get another somewhat overlapping card with another $95 in yearly fees (the Chas Sapphire).
Still the 100k bonus is obviously more than worth the $95 yearly fee -- except that I generally will not cancel or downgrade a card. Would you think it still makes sense to obtain this Sapphire with 100k bonus on an ongoing basis paying the annual fee AND still paying the Amex Gold?
For reference, I have a Chase Freedom card already and still intend on signing up for the Flex and Unlimited at some point in order to take advantage of those signup bonuses ($200 cash back).
My mindset is a long-term one, generally to maximize point value (I really haven't used any of the Amex points which are somewhere over 200k at this point). So I suppose it wouldn't be a terrible idea to maximize travel rewards via points with the Chase cards.
Quick question, how to find out the credit card number if I just got approved? I want to use it now. Thanks a lot!
You can't until you receive it, and they won't give it to you if you call.I had this problem a few months ago when I signed up for their 80k offer and wanted to buy something immediately.
I JUST downgraded my CSP, I was looking in the FAQ that it'd take a month to get a Sapphire card removed from the system but someone in the comments earlier mentioned they downgraded and within 2 weeks they applied to and got approved for this deal. Is there a way to check WHEN I could start applying?
